An insulated wire that has a stranded wire conductor, and an insulator that covers an outer circumference of the stranded wire conductor. The stranded wire conductor is made up of at least a plurality of copper-based element wires twisted together, and has been heat-treated after circular compression. The copper-based element wire(s) has (have) an Ni-based plated layer on the surface. The Ni-based plated later has been compressed by the circular compression. The insulator is composed of a cross-linked ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene based copolymer, and has a heating deformation rate in the range of 65% or more, as determined under predetermined conditions using predetermined formulae in conformity with ISO6722.

Provided is an electrical part, a nonaqueous electrolyte cell, and a lead wire and a sealable container for use therein, with which the adhesive property and sealing performance in an initial state and in an electrolyte-contacting state are enhanced. An electrical part includes a sealable container that includes a metal layer and a lead conductor that extends from inside of the sealable container to outside of the sealable container, the sealable container and the lead conductor being heat-sealed in a seal part. At least in part of the seal part, a thermal adhesive layer containing aluminum polyphosphate is provided in a portion between the metal layer and the lead conductor so as to be in contact with the lead conductor.

Provided are a non-halogen flame-retardant resin composition that contains a base polymer mainly containing a polyolefin-based resin, that passes a flame test, and that has good heat resistance and good heat-aging resistance which can satisfy a 150&#xb0; C. rating, and an insulated electric wire and a tube using the non-halogen flame-retardant resin composition. The non-halogen flame-retardant resin composition contains (A) a base polymer containing 90% by mass or more of a mixture of a polyolefin-based resin and a styrene-based elastomer; (B) a metal phosphinate; and (C) a nitrogen-based flame retardant, and is used as an insulating coating layer. The insulating coating layer and the tube are preferably cross-linked by irradiation with ionizing radiation.

A flame-retardant resin composition including a resin component containing (A) 30 to 90 parts by weight of a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer having, as measured according to JIS K 7311, a JIS hardness of A98 or less, (B) 70 to 10 parts by weight of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate unit content of 50 to 90% by weight, (C) 0 to 40 parts by weight of at least one polymer selected from the following copolymers (C1) to (C3), (C1) an acid anhydride-modified ethylene-unsaturated carboxylic acid derivative copolymer, (C2) an epoxy group-having ethylene-olefin copolymer, and (C3) an acid anhydride-modified styrene elastomer, and provided that the total amount of components (A), (B) and (C) is 100 parts by weight, (D) a metal hydroxide in a ratio of 40 to 250 parts by weight with respect to the total amount of 100 parts by weight of the resin component containing (A), (B) and (C).

Flame-retardant resin composition, and insulated wire, insulated shielded wire, insulated cable and insulation tube using the same

Provided are a halogen-free electric wire including an insulation coating the life of which is less reduced in the case of the insulating coating being in contact with a PVC-resin-containing member; a wire bundle including the halogen-free electric wire and a PVC-resin-containing member, wherein a reduction in the life of a covering material of the halogen-free electric wire is lessened; and an automotive wiring harness comprising the wire bundle. The halogen-free electric wire includes a conductor and a covering material that covers the outer surface of the conductor, wherein the covering material includes a polyolefin resin and a flame retardant, and the flame retardant contains aluminum hydroxide as a main component, in particular, at a ratio of 80 weight percent or more. The wire bundle includes the halogen-free electric wires and a member containing a vinyl chloride resin. The automotive wiring harness comprises the wire bundle.

To provide a non-crosslinked flame-retardant resin composition delivering excellent heat resistance without deteriorating over a long period of time, as well as possessing sufficient flame retardancy, mechanical properties, flexibility and workability, and an insulated wire and a wiring harness using the same. The non-crosslinked flame-retardant resin composition includes (B) a metallic hydrate, (C) a hindered phenolic antioxidant, (D) a sulfurous antioxidant, and (E) a metallic oxide in (A) a non-crosslinked base resin which includes a propylene resin containing 50 wt % or more of propylene monomer. It is preferable to utilize an imdazole compound as the ingredient (D) and an oxide of zinc as the ingredient (E). In addition, the composition is used as an insulated covering material for a non-halogenous insulated wire, which is used in a wire bundle of the wiring harness.

An object of the present invention is to provide a buffered optical fiber, which excels in environmental characteristics and mechanical characteristics and has high flame retardancy and excels in optical transmission characteristics, and to provide a buffered optical fiber, which is terminated with a connector and uses this buffered optical fiber. The buffered optical fiber of the invention is provided with a second coating layer on an outer peripheral surface of an optical fiber produced by providing a first coating layer on an outer peripheral surface of a glass fiber. A second resin composition constituting the second coating layer comprises 100 to 250 weight parts of metal hydroxide and 10 to 100 weight parts of a nitrogen-based flame retardant material per 100 weight parts of the base polymer. Further, the second resin composition does not contain halogenated materials.

A halogen free flame retardant cable that has excellent flexibility and abrasion resistance, exhibiting fusion adhesion property to mold materials, such as PBT and nylon, and excellent flame retardant property, preferably having abrasion resistance. In particular, there is provided a halogen free flame retardant cable characterized in that it includes an insulating wire, an inner sheath and an outer sheath, the inner sheath comprised of a polyolefin resin or a resin composition composed mainly of the resin, the outer sheath comprised of a product of crosslinking of a mixture of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer and thermoplastic polyester elastomer or a resin composition composed mainly of the mixture, the outer sheath containing at least one flame retardant selected from among metal hydroxides and nitrogenous flame retardants in an amount of 3 to 35 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the resin mixture. Further, there is preferably provided a halogen free flame retardant cable wherein the inner sheath contains a specified flame retardant in an amount of specified range.

Disclosed herein is a plated-polyester article with a plating layer formed on the surface of a polyester article. The polyester article is irradiated with ionizing radiation to crosslink a polyester resin, the arithmetic mean roughness Ra of the surface of the plating layer is at most 1 &#x3bc;m, and adhesion strength between the polyester article and the plating layer is at least 2 MPa. A production process of a plated-polyester article, which comprises the step of melt-forming a resin composition obtained by dispersing an inorganic filler having an average particle diameter of 1 to 10 &#x3bc;m in a proportion of 5 to 20 vol. % in a polyester resin, which can be crosslinked by irradiation with ionizing radiation, into a polyester article, is also disclosed.

Plated-polyester article and production process thereof

The present invention improves the concentricity after expansion process of a heat shrinkable tube which is required to have a thin wall and hardness, and further aims to obtain elongation of 100% or more in a heat aging test, copperstability test, and heat shock test. The heat shrinkable tube satisfying such aim uses a medium- or high-density polyethylene that has a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 30 to 55, an MFR of 0.05 to 0.2, and a specific gravity of 0.94 to 0.96. A medium- or high-density polyethylene obtained by combining an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene-ethylacrylate copolymer, ethylene-methylacrylate copolymer, and ethylene-ethylmethacrylate copolymer may be used. More preferably, for an antioxidant, phenol-based and sulfur-based antioxidants are used together and zinc oxide is added.

Polyethylene heat shrinkable tube

A heat-resistant engineering-plastic composition that satisfies a soldering-heat resistance of 260&deg; C. for 10 to 60 secs., that is less costly, that is free of problems in injection molding process, and that is excellent in heat-aging resistance. A heat-resistant molded product made with the heat-resistant engineering-plastic composition, such as a connector mounted on printed circuit board. The heat-resistant molded product is produced by (a) melt-kneading (a1) an engineering plastic either having or introduced an active site for reacting with a specific functional group and (a2) either an organic compound that has both the said specific functional group and a polymerizing functional group in the same molecule or polyolefin that has the said specific functional group described in (a1) to obtain a resin composition, (b) melt-molding the resin composition comprising of (a), and (c) irradiating the melt-molded resin composition with ionizing radiation.
