There is provided a power transmission belt which comprises a compression layer and an adhesive rubber layer which are adhered to each other by vulcanizing together and which has aramid fiber cords embedded in the adhesive rubber layer, wherein the compression layer and the adhesive rubber layer are formed of vulcanizate of an ethylene-&agr;-olefin-diene rubber compound and wherein the aramid fiber cords having a first twisting coefficient and a final twisting coefficient both in the range from 650 to 950 are adhesion treated with a resorcin-formalin-latex adhesive composition wherein the latex comprises at least one of chlorosulfonated polyethylene and alkylated chlorosulfonated polyethylene in an amount of 50-100% by weight based on the solid components of the resorcin-formalin-latex and adhered to and embedded in the adhesive rubber layer. A process for the production of such power transmission belt is also provided.

Power transmission belt and process for production of the same

There is provided a power transmission belt which comprises a compression layer and an adhesive rubber layer which are adhered to each other by vulcanizing together and which has polyester fiber cords embedded in the adhesive rubber layer, wherein the compression layer and the adhesive rubber layer are formed of vulcanizate of an ethylene-&agr;-olefin-diene rubber compound and wherein the polyester fiber cords are adhesion treated with a resorcin-formalin-rubber latex adhesive composition wherein the rubber latex comprises at least one of chlorosulfonated polyethylene and alkylated chlorosulfonated polyethylene in an amount of 50-100% by weight based on the solid components of the rubber latex and adhered to and embedded in the adhesive rubber layer. A process for the production of such power transmission belt is also provided.

In a V-ribbed belt, the dimension H from the rib-side end of a tension member to the bottom of a rib is set in the range of 1.0 to 2.0 mm to thicken the bottom side of the belt, thereby reducing a shock as caused when the belt vibrates and strikes a pulley. The dimension H from the rib-side end of the tension member to the top of the rib is set in the range of 3.0 to 4.0 mm or the belt with five ribs is set to exhibit a flexural rigidity of 39.2 N&middot;cm or more when subjected to a flexural rigidity test, thereby enhancing the flexural rigidity of the belt. Alternatively, the belt with five ribs is set to exhibit a dynamic spring constant of 850 N/mm or more when subjected to a dynamic response test, thereby providing a sufficient dynamic spring constant to the belt. Alternatively, the belt with five ribs is set to exhibit a dynamic damping constant of 0.065 N&middot;S/mm or more when subjected to the dynamic response test, thereby providing a sufficient dynamic damping constant to the belt. According to these settings, production of vibration and associated noise during the running of the V-ribbed belt can be suppressed without the need for tension management of the belt and provision of an idler pulley.

V-ribbed belt

In a V-ribbed belt, cords made of polyester fibers are embedded into an adhesion rubber layer made of chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber whose polymer ingredient is so compounded that the content of chlorine is 15 to 35 wt. % and the content of sulfur is 0.5 to 2.5 wt. %, thereby reinforcing the adhesion rubber layer. The cords are treated with two kinds of adhesives. A first adhesive for first treatment is an adhesive having at least one of an isocynate compound and an epoxy compound. A second adhesive for second treatment is an adhesive formed of a mixture having at least resorcineformaldehyde resin and 2,3-dichlorobutadiefie-contained polymer. A surfactant is added to the second adhesive so that the cords and the adhesion rubber layer are Securely adhered, thereby enhancing dynamic adhesive strength of the V-ribbed belt.

Fiber-reinforced elastic body and power transmission belt using the same

In a printing machine such as an impact printer, the printing gap between a print head and a platen is appropriately adjusted to cope with a variety of paper sheets. For adjusting the printing gap, the platen (or print head) is moved toward the print head (or platen) to press a paper sheet and then the platen (or print head) is moved to an origin position. Thereafter, the platen (or print head) is moved closer to the print head (or platen) by an appropriate pressing distance obtained by subtracting an appropriate value for the printing gap from the distance between the pressing position and the origin position.
