The ultrasonic wave generated by an ultrasonic transducer mounted at the end of an insert assembly scans a region of scanning. Ultrasonic echo is received by the transducer. A video memory stores sequentially video data of a plurality of video frames or scanning durations. With a freeze operation is commanded, the degree of coincidence between data obtained at the start of scanning and at the end of the scanning is calculated, or the degree of coincidence between two identical sounding lines but with one scanning duration apart in time therebetween is calculated. The video of highest coincidence is displayed as a still video.

An ultrasonic imaging and diagnosing device comprises a section to be inserted into the body cavity, an ultrasonic wave transmitting and receiving section located at the front end of the inserting section, a conductive hollow shaft arranged in the inserting section and connected to the ultrasonic wave transmitting and receiving section, a scanning device for scanning the body cavity while changing the direction of ultrasonic wave transmitted from the ultrasonic wave transmitting and receiving section, a circuit for receiving electric signals applied from the ultrasonic wave transmitting and receiving section, and a signal cable passed through the hollow shaft to connect the ultrasonic wave transmitting and receiving section to the signal receiving circuit. Both of an outer conductive line of the signal cable and the hollow shaft are connected to the common of the signal receiving circuit to prevent noises from entering into the signal cable.

An ultrasonic diagnosis device includes an ultrasonic oscillator, contained in a probe which can be inserted into a blood vessel, which can vary direction of transmission and reception of ultrasonic waves to receive an echo signal from the wall of the blood vessel thereby calculating information about the inner and outer walls of a blood vessel and obtaining cross-sectional and three-dimensional images of a blood vessel and the like.
