In a conventional power supply system, it was difficult to quickly activate a motor load or the like after performing switching to an isolated operation. A power conditioner of the present invention comprises: a DC-DC converter part for converting a direct-current power from a direct-current power source into a given voltage; an inverter part for converting a direct-current power from the DC-DC converter part into an alternating-current power; a switch disposed between an alternating-current power output end of the inverter part and a utility power source; and a control part for controlling an output current of the alternating-current power from the inverter part, wherein, in response to opening the switch to cause switching to the isolated operation, the control part is operable, when a given condition is not satisfied, to control the output current such that the output current does not exceed a first upper limit preliminarily determined based on a rated output current value of the power conditioner, and, when the given condition is satisfied, to control the output current such that the output current does not exceed a second upper limit greater than the first upper limit.

A phosphor wheel includes: a substrate; and a plurality of phosphor layers disposed apart from each other on the substrate along a circumferential direction. A fluorescence efficiency of the second fluorescence emitter when the second fluorescence emitter is irradiated with excitation light is lower than a fluorescence efficiency of the first fluorescence emitter when the first fluorescence emitter is irradiated with the excitation light. In plan view, a blank portion is located adjacent to the second fluorescence emitter in the circumferential direction, the blank portion being a portion of the substrate where no phosphor layer is disposed. Protective layer () of front plate () of a plasma display panel has base protective layer () and particle layer (). Base protective layer () is formed of a thin film of metal oxide containing at least one of magnesium oxide, strontium oxide, calcium oxide, and barium oxide. Particle layer () is formed by sticking, to base protective layer (), single crystal particles () of magnesium oxide having an NaCl crystal structure that is surrounded by a specified two-type orientation face formed of (100) face and (111) face or a specified three-type orientation face formed of (100) face, (110) face, and (111) face. The panel driving circuit drives the panel while temporally disposing the subfields so that the luminance weight monotonically decreases from a subfield in which an all-cell initializing operation is performed to the subfield immediately before the subfield in which its next all-cell initializing operation is performed.

A plasma display device has a crystal particle made of MgO single crystal where the cathode luminescence emission spectrum exhibits a desired characteristic, and displays an image by a driving method in the initializing period. The initializing period has the first half for applying the voltage, which gradually increases from a first voltage and to a second voltage, to a second electrode, and the latter half for applying the voltage, which gradually decreases from a third voltage and to a fourth voltage.
