In a jet-operated weaving machine including a race on which are arranged a reed, a series of weft guides forming a weft guiding channel in a shed and a number of auxiliary nozzles provided adjacently along said series of weft guides for injecting therefrom fluid under pressure into said channel thereby to carry all the way of said channel a weft yarn introduced into the shed initially by a jet stream from main nozzle, an apparatus for mounting weft guiding members wherein said weft guides and auxiliary nozzles are mounted integrally on a plural number of mounting blocks which are arranged in a row fixedly on said race, each of said blocks being formed therein fluid passage communicated with said auxiliary nozzles and also connected to fluid supply tube.

Apparatus for mounting weft guiding members in jet looms

A weft length measuring device comprising a weft storage drum supported against rotation and a weft winding member rotatable around the drum to wind a weft thereon is disclosed. According to this invention, the measuring device further comprises a length measuring control or retaining pin and a weft unwinding control pin arranged a pair at axially spaced positions in the weft storage drum and operated by a cam mechanism so as to alternately project out of the weft storage drum at appropriate times in the weft inserting cycle, and a weft transfer member arranged on the outer periphery of the weft storage drum to cause the weft for one weft insertion, the length of which has been measured by the rearwardly disposed rearward, length measuring pin, to be transferred toward the forward, weft unwinding control pin. During the weft inserting operation during which the weft wound on the drum is unwound, a succeeding weft for the next weft insertion can be continuously and exactly wound on the storage drum.

Device for measuring the length of a weft in a shuttleless loom

An apparatus is provided for guiding a weft yarn into the shed of a jet loom by a number of weft guiding members, each having an aperture with an opening. The weft guiding members are composed of a first group of weft guiding members of which the openings are of a relatively narrow width and formed in upper parts of the weft guiding members in the first group, and a second group of weft guiding members of which the openings are of a relatively broad width and formed in side parts of the weft guiding members in the second group. In front of the opening in each of the weft guiding members in the second group are sub-nozzles each having at least one fluid outlet discharging a jet of fluid to assist the weft yarn in being inserted into the shed so that the fluid jet produced by the respective sub-nozzle is obliquely directed toward surfaces of the apertures of the weft guiding members in the first group downstream of the respective sub-nozzle with respect to the direction in which the weft yarn is inserted, which surfaces are positioned on the side opposite to the sub-nozzles.

Apparatus for guiding weft yarns in a jet loom

A weft guide device in a jet loom having a reed carrier for carring a reed thereon is disclosed. The guide device made according to this invention generally comprises an array of weft guide members mounted on said reed carrier along the reed and each having a concave to provide a weft guide path, said concave being provided with a relatively narrow opening and defined by surfaces including a substantially vertically extending surface joining with said opening, and a surface opposite said substantially vertically extending surface through said concave. According to this invention, said opposite surface is inclined in a direction so that its upper portion is positioned nearer to said substantially vertically extending surface than is its lower portion.

Weft guide device in a jet loom

A weft guide device in a jet loom having a reed carrier for carrying a reed thereon is disclosed. The guide device made according to this invention generally comprises an array of weft guide members mounted on said reed carrier along the reed and each having a concave to provide a weft guide path, said concave being provided with a relatively narrow opening and defined by surfaces including a substantially vertically extending surface joining with said opening, and a surface opposite said substantially vertically extending surface through said concave. According to this invention, the upper portion of said substantially vertically extending surface is curved toward said opposite surface.

A weft yarn guiding comb for a jet loom having a slay, on which the comb is mounted to turn with the slay between a yarn guiding position and a yarn extricating position, includes a plurality of weft yarn guides each comprising a root portion, a substantially straight portion extending upwardly from the root portion, a curved portion branching off from the straight portion while bending to form an aperture in association with the straight portion with an opening between the ends of the straight and corved portions, and a flexible tongue for normally substantially closing the opening. The flexible tongue is provided on the straight portion with its tip positioned either closely adjacent to or in contact with the inner surface of the end of the curved portion thereby to normally close said opening.

Weft guiding comb for a jet loom

An apparatus for assisting a weft picked into a shed by main nozzle of a jet loom in being inserted through the shed properly is provided. The apparatus comprises improved auxiliary nozzles, each of which has formed therein a first outlet opening for discharging weft pick assisting jets of fluid therethrough and a second outlet opening for discharging weft pick stabilizing jets of fluid therethrough, said first and second outlet openings being arranged in spaced relation to each other along the axis of said auxiliary nozzle and also in such a way that the axes of said first and second outlet openings will form an angle thus directing in different direction from each other so that harmful turbulence of fluid due to interference thereof may be prevented successfully from taking place.

In a shuttleless loom provided with a gripper which repeats the gripping and releasing of a weft in synchronism with the weft inserting operation, a fluid supply apparatus comprises a compressed fluid source, a valve mechanism having a fluid entrance and at least one fluid discharge exit, a pipe means connecting said compressed fluid source to said fluid entrance of the valve mechanism, at least one nozzle disposed at a given position in the loom, and a connecting means connecting said nozzle to said fluid discharge exit. The valve mechanism is actuated in synchronism with the gripping and releasing operation of the gripper.

An improved method and apparatus for jetting auxiliary fluid to a fluid and filling guide passage formed on a sley in a jet loom wherein a plurality auxiliary nozzles are vertically disposed at predetermined intervals to confront the opening of the guide passage, the entire region in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the opening of the guide passage is covered by the auxiliary fluid jetted from the opening of the respective nozzles.

Method and apparatus for carrying out the filling operation in a jet loom, wherein a main nozzle is provided for flying a weft through a guide passage formed on a sley at the time of each filling operation. When the supply of a compressed fluid into the main nozzle is stopped immediately after the completion of a filling operation, the compressed fluid present between a transfer valve connected to a fluid supply source and the main nozzle is positively discharged into the atmosphere simultaneously with the stopping of the supply of the compressed fluid, so as to promptly reduce the fluid pressure in the main nozzle, by utilizing the transfer valve designed for the present invention.

Method and apparatus for carrying out the filling operation in a jet loom

A device for inserting a weft yarn in a shed of the jet operated weaving machine provided with a control means for controlling the carrying action of the weft yarn, which is carried by a plurality of pressure fluid flows through a guiding channel formed in a comb arranged in parallel condition to a reed. The comb comprises a plurality of guiding plates and an air escaping passage formed between every two adjacent guide plates in such a condition that the quantity of the escaping air which flows through each escaping passage is maximum at a predetermined portion of each escaping passage. The above-mentioned control means comprises the above-mentioned escaping passages.
