A buckle includes a main body connectable to a tongue attached to a seatbelt of a vehicle, a sensor disposed in the main body or in a support member that supports the main body, the sensor configured to produce a sensor output signal whose waveform changes in response to movement of an object situated in a seat of the vehicle, a detection unit configured to detect, from the sensor output signal produced by the sensor, vital-sign signal components indicative of a vital sign that is at least either respiration or pulse beat, a generation unit configured to evaluate reliability of the vital-sign signal components detected by the detection unit and to generate vital-sign information about the vital sign from a reliable one of the vital-sign signal components, and an output unit configured to output the vital-sign information generated by the generation unit.

Buckle and on-vehicle system

Heater electrodes and a sensor electrode both in a film shape are formed on the top surface of an insulation sheet without overlapping with each other. As a result, a seat heater has a small overall thickness. Then, the seat heater can be placed near the seating surface of a seat without making the seat less comfortable to sit in. The occupant is detected based on the impedance between the sensor electrode and the vehicle. As a result, it is possible to warm the occupant seated on the seat efficiently and detect the occupant with accuracy.

Heater and heating system

The heating elements of a seat heater are used to warm the occupant seated on the seat and also used to detect the occupant. The configuration eliminates the need to dispose, in the vicinity of the seating surface of the seat, both a heater unit used for warming the occupant and a sensor for detecting the occupant. As a result, the structure of the seat is simplified to prevent deterioration in seating comfort, and at the same time, the occupant can be accurately detected and the heating elements can be efficiently utilized.

Heating system

A seat heater has heater electrodes in a film shape and a sensor electrode in a film shape. When detecting an occupant through the sensor electrode, the heater electrodes are disconnected from a heater unit to cause those electrodes to be substantially insulated from a vehicle. This makes it possible to detect the occupant seated on a seat without being affected by the heater electrodes. According to such a structure, it becomes possible to warm the occupant and to precisely detect the occupant.

A vehicular collision detection apparatus mounted to a vehicle comprises: a door beam that is arranged in a partitioned region partitioned between a door outer panel of a vehicle door, and a door inner panel of the vehicle door, and is displaced in accordance with a deformation of the door outer panel at the time of a vehicular collision; a cylindrical member that is arranged in the partitioned region and is compressed by the door beam at the time of the displacement of the door beam; a sealed cavity provided to the cylindrical member; a pressure sensor configured to detect a pressure fluctuation of the cavity; a deriving portion configured to derive a displacement amount and displacement velocity of the door beam, based on the pressure fluctuation detected by the pressure sensor; and a determining portion configured to determine collision particulars of the vehicle based on the displacement amount and displacement velocity of the door beam derived by the deriving portion.

Vehicular collision detection apparatus, occupant restraint system, and vehicle

A digital broadcast receiver includes an operation mode manager that switches an operation mode to a first mode in which a function is implemented by the downloaded application or a second mode in which a function is implemented by the pre-installed application, and a key delivery module that delivers the key code received from the remote control to the downloaded application or the pre-installed application. When the receiver is in the first mode, the key delivery module delivers the received key code to the downloaded application if the received key code is a key code for the first mode, and delivers the received key code to the pre-installed application if the received key code is a key code for the second mode. When the receiver is in the second mode, the key delivery module delivers the received key code to the pre-installed application.

Broadcast receiving apparatus, and method and program for broadcast reception

A detection system is provided for easily detecting information about respective objects seated on a plurality of vehicle seats. An occupant information detection apparatus for a vehicle is disclosed which, in one form, comprises a single photographing section capable of detecting image, a projector lens and a mirror which have viewing angles wider than that of the single photographing section and can independently project the objects seated to the single photographing section to correspond to respective vehicle seats, and a control section for detecting information about objects seated on the respective vehicle seats.

Detection system, informing system, actuation system and vehicle

A side impact detection system for detecting information about a side impact of a vehicle. The side impact detection system comprises a elongated member, a detection sensor, a deriving unit, and a determination unit. The elongated member is capable of being deflected toward the inside of the vehicle according to the deformation of the door outer panel in the event of a side impact. The detection sensor detects information about the displacement of a setting area that is previously set on the elongated member during the deflection of the elongated member toward the inside of the vehicle. The deriving unit derives the displacement and the displacement speed of the setting area relative to a vehicle body side member based on the information detected by the detection sensor. The determination unit determines the mode of the side impact on the vehicle based on the information derived by the deriving unit.

Occupant restraint system

A vehicular actuation system installed in a vehicle includes an actuation device that includes an operation member manipulated by a vehicle occupant. The system also includes a detecting unit for detecting a three-dimensional image in an operational area of a predetermined range about the operation member. The system also includes a control unit that determines based on the detected three-dimensional image whether or not a palm or back of a hand of the vehicle occupant is present in the operational area. The control unit operates the actuation device when the palm or back of the hand of the vehicle occupant is present in the operational area. The system includes a first operation mode in which the operation member is directly manipulated by the hand of the vehicle occupant to operate the actuation device and a second operation mode in which the actuation device is operated by the control unit.

Vehicular actuation system

An occupant information detection system for detecting information related to a vehicle occupant on a vehicle seat includes an image detecting section facing a vehicle seat area taking a three-dimensional image, an information extraction processing section extracting information related to a three-dimensional surface profile of a detected object on a vehicle seat based on the three-dimensional image, a conversion processing section converting the extracted information into numerical coordinates of a predetermined coordinate system, and a computation processing section deriving a computed value by subtracting an average of first and second coordinate components from a third coordinate component. The system also includes a determination processing section determining the concave-convex shape of a line segment formed by the arbitrary points and the middle point based on the computed value.

Occupant information detection system

When a home appliance equipped with a processor implementing a conventional JVM with a JIT compiler executes uncompiled methods, the execution speed is slower because the methods are compiled at runtime. To suppress the execution speed reduction, a program execution control device judges, on invocation of a method during program execution, whether a method invoked has previously been compiled. If the method is uncompiled, the device executes the method by interpreting associated bytecodes, and also issues a compilation request for the method. If the method is compiled, the device executes native code having been generated by compiling the method. Compilation of a method requested is executed as a separate task from tasks of instruction execution such as interpreter execution or native code execution.

An occupant detection apparatus can include a photographing device disposed to face to a vehicle rear seat for taking three-dimensional images; an information extracting section which extracts image information corresponding to an upper area of a seat of the rear seat from three-dimensional images taken by the photographing device; a division processing section which divides information extracted by the information extracting section into areas relating to respective sitting areas for occupants sitting in the rear seat; and a derivation processing section which derives, with regard to histogram showing frequency distribution of picture elements relative to distances from the photographing device, a first histogram corresponding to image information divided by the division processing section and also derives a difference histogram by deriving a second histogram from the derived first histogram, and thus derives information about each rear-seat occupant in each sitting area of said vehicle rear seat based on the difference histogram.

Occupant detection apparatus

In one form, an object struck discrimination system to be installed in a vehicle includes an impact receiving member for receiving an impact from an object struck which extends lengthwise along the width of the vehicle, a detection sensor for detecting the moving speed or the acceleration of the impact receiving member during a vehicle collision, and a control unit for discriminating the object struck based on the rate of change in the moving speed per unit time or the acceleration introduced from information detected by the detection sensor.
