A storage apparatus comprises a storage controller and multiple storage devices. The storage controller sends, to either a storage device which is a copy source of copy-target data, or a storage device which is a copy destination of the copy-target data, a copy indication showing areas of the copy source and the copy destination, and the storage device, which receives the copy indication, copies data of the copy-source area to the copy-destination area based on the copy indication without going through the storage controller.

Storage apparatus and data copy control method

A storage apparatus having a plurality of logical volumes includes a storage device, and a storage controller that operates each of the logical volumes as a virtual volume. A primary volume and a secondary volume are configured as a copy pair in which data in the primary volume can be copied to the secondary volume. If the primary volume receives a discard request for a unit physical storage area, the storage controller determines whether or not a unit physical storage area exists configuring the secondary volume corresponding to the unit physical storage area, which is a target of the discard request. If the unit physical storage area configuring the secondary volume exists, an instruction is transmitted to the secondary volume to discard the page or unit physical storage area assigned to the secondary volume.

Two data centers located in the vicinity are connected using a synchronous transfer copy function, and one of the data centers is coupled with a third data center disposed at a remote location by an asynchronous remote copying function. The order whereat a storage sub-system located in the vicinity has received data from a host is consistently guaranteed, and the third data center holds the data. A storage apparatus configuration in a three data center architecture comprises first and second data storage systems, and a remote data storage system. The first data storage systems can copy an image of data stored therein to the remote data storage system without affecting access to storage in the first data storage system. The second data storage system is configured to perform a takeover operation if the first data storage system becomes unavailable.

The present invention provides a method, a system and code for backing up information on a storage system, for example, a disk system, connected to a storage area network. The present invention provides an image reducing system and method capable of retaining fine lines in a reduced image by reducing an original image and by quickly forming the reduced image with high quality. The method includes specifying positions of pixels of a reduced image in the original image according to reduction ratios, extracting a run of pieces of the same color information about the color of the pixels of the original image as a line, determining the line width of the extracted line and determining the line width after reduction in the reduction ratios based on the line width of the extracted line and calculating the centroid of the extracted line, and retaining the color information about the extracted line at a reduced pixel near the centroid on the basis of the centroid of the extracted line and the line width after reduction. The method further performs the step of determining the color information about each reduced pixel based on the retained color information.

Apparatus and method for image reduction

An input panel interface section is responsive to an input signal from an input panel to provide input coordinate data indicating an input position in a coordinate system used in the input panel. A converter converts the input coordinate data provided by the input panel interface section into display coordinate data. The display coordinate data is data in a coordinate system used for a display controller to determine a display position on a display. The display controller controls display output to the display by using the display coordinate data output by the coordinate converter. The present invention relates to a document editing and a printing apparatus comprising a data processor such as a personal computer and a word processor, and more particularly to a method of correcting data to be printed. The object of the present invention is to provide a printed data correcting method capable of correcting an error in a printed document during printing without terminating the printing when such error is found. In order to achieve the object, according to the present invention, data involving printing is displayed to the user. Each data is stored which is indicative of whether data of a specified unit such as a character, a line or a page are printed or print-waiting such that the data stored as being print-waiting can be corrected. When the data stored as being already printed are corrected, only the page which contains the corrected data is reprinted.
