In an apparatus provided with a plate type heat exchanger as a heater and/or a cooler and operated to treat a gas containing an easily blocking substance, a method for preventing the plate type heat exchanger from being blocked is disclosed which is characterized by i) setting the width of a flow path on a plate of the plate type heat exchanger in the apparatus in a range of 6-25 mm and ii) setting the average flow rate of the gas passing the plate type heat exchanger in the apparatus per unit cross-sectional area of the flow path on the plate in the range of 3-15 m/s. In the exchange of heat of an easily blocking substance by the use of a plate type heat exchanger, a method for preventing the plate type heat exchanger from blockage is disclosed which has the plate type heat exchanger provided in the port for introducing a gas containing an easily blocking substance with a gas dispersion plate. This invention, in the heat exchange of an effluent gas emanating from a process for the production of (meth)acrylic acid or an ester thereof or the disposal of the gas, significantly allays blockage of the interior of the plate type heat exchanger.

Method for preventing plate type heat exchanger from blockage

The present invention provides a heat-exchanging method for an easily polymerizable compound which method effectively prevents polymerization in a heat exchanger to enable a long-term stable heat exchange when an easily polymerizable liquid compound (for example, acrylate ester) or an easily polymerizable compound-containing liquid (for example, aqueous acrylic acid solution) is heat-exchanged. A vertical spiral type heat exchanger with a fluid path space of not less than 6 mm is used as a heat exchanger to carry out the heat exchange under conditions where the average liquid flow rate is not less than 0.2 m/sec and where the liquid residence time is not more than 100 seconds.

Heat-exchanging method for easily polymerizable compound

A storing device is disclosed having a gas-sealing device and/or a heating device provided for a pipe connecting a storing tank for an easily polymerizable and/or coagulating liquid substance and a liquid sealing implement-protecting device. A method for the control of the pressure in the storing device is also disclosed. This invention contemplates protecting a storing device against deformation and fracture.

A method for transferring an easily-polymerizable substance by using a vertically-arranged circulation type canned motor pump or a gas seal type motor pump. Transferring the easily-polymerizable substance such as (meth)acrylic acid with use of the motor pump having the vertically-arranged main shaft enables effective prevention of polymerized matter in the pump. The method assures stable transfer of easily-polymerizable matter for a prolonged time.

A heat exchanger for an easily polymerizing substance-containing gas provided with a shell possessed of a heat-exchanging gas inlet and a heat-exchanging gas outlet and a heat-exchanging part adapted to circulate fluid introduced from outside the shell between the gas inlet and said gas outlet, which heat exchanger is characterized by being provided with a gas distributing plate between the gas inlet and the heat-exchanging part. The heat exchanger is characterized by the gas distributing plate having a cross-sectional area in the range of 1.0-10.0 times the cross-section of the gas inlet. When an easily polymerizing substance-containing gas contacts a structure, the gas is condensed on the contact surface of the structure and suffered to generate a polymer. According to the heat exchanger of this invention, by uniformly distributing a gas in the heat-exchanging part, it is made possible to attain uniform distribution of heat, depress the possible condensation of the gas, and prevent the easily polymerizing substance from succumbing to polymerization.
