A method and an apparatus for opening continuous filaments provide stable quality of fibrous layer after opening crimped TOW. The TOW is transported by means of a plurality of rolls. While transported, the TOW is applied a resistance on one side of the TOW by slidingly contacting a sliding body onto the TOW at between rolls. As a result, continuous filaments stacked in a thickness direction of the TOW are caused to sift in a transporting direction of the TOW. Thus, the TOW is opened and the continuous filaments are spread in a width direction of the TOW.

Method and apparatus for opening continuous filaments

Disclosed is an absorbent article including a liquid-permeable surface member, a backsheet and an absorbent core positioned between the surface member and the backsheet. The surface member is a sheet including: first continuous filaments made of hydrophobic synthetic resin and individually extending over the entire length of the surface member; and second continuous filaments made of cellulose acetate and individually extending over the entire length of the surface member.

Disclosed is an absorbent article including: a liquid permeable surface structural body; a backing sheet; an absorbent core disposed between the surface structural body and the backing sheet. The layers include: a lower layer positioned adjacent to the absorbent layer; and an upper layer positioned away from the absorbent layer and having a smaller width than that of the lower layer. Disclosed is an absorbent article including: a liquid permeable surface layer formed of continuous filaments individually extending over the entire length of the surface layer, the continuous filaments including at least heat-fusible continuous filaments; a backing sheet; and a fibrous absorbent core located between the surface layer and the backing sheet and containing heat-fusible fibers. Between the surface layer and the fibrous absorbent core, disposed is an absorbent sheet which is formed of superabsorbent polymer to have a plurality of through passages. The surface layer and the fibrous absorbent core are partially fusion-bonded to each other via the through passages formed in the absorbent sheet for retaining the absorbent sheet between the surface layer and the fibrous absorbent core.

Disclosed is an absorbent article including: a liquid permeable surface member; a backing sheet; and an absorbent layer interposed between the surface member and the backing sheet. The surface member includes an upper layer located at a liquid-receiving side surface and a lower layer located adjacent to the absorbent layer. The upper layer is formed of first continuous filaments. The lower layer is formed of second continuous filaments. The first and second continuous filaments individually extend over the entire length of the surface member. Hydrophilicity of the lower layer is higher than that of the upper layer.

There is disclosed an absorbent article including: a liquid permeable surface sheet; a backing sheet; and an absorbent layer located between the surface sheet and the backing sheet. The backing sheet includes a liquid impermeable base sheet and a layer of continuous filaments individually extending along a longitudinal direction of the absorbent article and stacked on an outer surface of the base sheet. The base sheet and the continuous filament layer are partially fixed.

Here is disclosed an improved nonwoven fabric wiper obtained by a method comprising steps of forming a laminate from a web of thermally shrinkable hydrophobic synthetic fibers and a web of hydrophilic fibers put one upon another, jetting high pressure water onto the laminate supported on a supporting roll provided on its peripheral surface with a plurality of fine projections as well as a plurality of drainage apertures, causing the fibers to be entangled or intertwined and rearranged and thereby forming a nonwoven fabric having uneven fiber distribution densities, and heating the nonwoven fabric to crimp the synthetic fibers so that only portions of relatively high fiber density may bulge.
