A connection structure between an electric wire and a terminal has an electric wire including a core wire with strands, and a terminal including a bottom-plate portion and a pair of core-wire-crimping pieces, which protrude from both edges of the bottom-plate portion and each distal-end portion of the pair of core-wire-crimping pieces being divided into a plurality of portions, the terminal enclosing and holding the core wire by the bottom-plate portion and the pair of core-wire-crimping pieces. The pair of core-wire-crimping pieces extends in directions to approach each other at a proximal-end portion, is in contact with each other at an intermediate portion, and extends in directions to be separated from each other at the distal-end portion. At least one portion of the plurality of portions of each distal-end portion of the pair of core-wire-crimping pieces extend in a different direction from other portions of the distal-end portion.

A crimp terminal includes a terminal connecting portion, an electric wire connecting portion, and a coupling portion. The electric wire connecting portion is divided into a bottom placed on a recessed surface of a first die and on which an end of an electric wire is placed during the crimping process, a first barrel piece extending from a first end of the bottom and wound around the end of the electric wire, and a second barrel piece extending from a second end of the bottom and wound around the end of the electric wire. The bottom has a recess formed on an outer wall surface on the recessed surface side and into which a protrusion formed on the recessed surface is inserted during the crimping process, and a protrusion on an inner wall surface formed along with formation of the recess.

Crimp terminal and terminal crimping device

A connection structure of an electric wire and a terminal includes the electric wire, the terminal, and a seal part. The electric wire has an insulating coated part in which a conductor part is covered with an insulating material, and a conductor exposed part in which the insulating material of an end of the electric wire is removed. The terminal includes a first crimp part crimped to the insulating coated part, and a second crimp part crimped to the conductor exposed part. The seal part is made of thermoplastic elastomer and covers a surface including the first crimp part and the insulating coated part of a side extending from said first crimp part toward a direction opposite to the end of the electric wire and a surface of the second crimp part in an extension direction of the electric wire.

Connection structure of electric wire and terminal, and manufacturing method thereof

A method of waterproofing a crimping part of a crimp terminal where a wire is crimped includes a step of forming a waterproof structure. The waterproofing structure seals a crimping region containing the crimping part with an adhesive tape. The adhesive tape has waterproofing performance and has a thickness no more than a predetermined value.

Crimp pieces () of a metal terminal and a conductor wire placed on an inner side of the crimp pieces are positioned between a crimp indenter () and a crimp anvil (). Then, at least one of the crimp indenter () and the crimp anvil () is moved toward another one thereof along a direction of a longitudinal center axis () to crimp the crimp pieces (). At least two arch-shaped portions () are disposed on an inner surface of the crimp indenter (), and are adjacent to each other and symmetric with respect to a plane including the longitudinal center axis (). A sharply pointed portion () is defined by curves of the at least two arch-shaped portions () intersecting on the longitudinal center axis (). Curvature of each of the curves is set to be greater toward the sharply pointed portion ().

Crimping device for crimping crimp pieces of a metal terminal

It is a terminal crimping die system for crimping a terminal to an electric wire by fitting an anvil, in which a terminal receiving groove is provided in a crimping face part, into a recess of a crimper. In this terminal crimping die system, the width of each of receiving surfaces, each of which is provided between a corresponding one of both end parts of the terminal receiving groove and a corresponding one of both end parts of the crimping face part, is not more than &frac12; of the thickness of the terminal.

To provide a press-clamping terminal in which an examination can be easily carried out with the need for using a bulky apparatus and tools, grooves ( ), serving as a criterion for confirming a press-clamped condition, are impressed on or stamped in an outer surface of a bottom portion ( ) of a barrel ( ).
