An object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst composition and an exhaust gas purification catalyst, each of which includes a pyrochlore-type CeO—ZrO-based complex oxide having an improved oxygen storage capacity (particularly, an improved oxygen storage capacity after being exposed to a high temperature environment), and, in order to achieve the above-mentioned object, the present invention provides an exhaust gas purification catalyst composition and an exhaust gas purification catalyst, each of which contains a pyrochlore-type CeO—ZrO-based complex oxide that contains Y and Mg and thus exhibits an excellent oxygen storage capacity (particularly, an excellent oxygen storage capacity after being exposed to a high temperature environment).

Exhaust gas purification catalyst composition and exhaust gas purification catalyst

A composition for exhaust gas purification including first alumina including alumina containing lanthanum and second alumina including alumina containing lanthanum. The first alumina has a higher lanthanum content than the second alumina. The second alumina has a larger particle size than the first alumina. The lanthanum content of the first alumina is preferably 2 to 12 mass %, in terms of oxide, based on the total mass of alumina and lanthanum oxide of the first alumina. The lanthanum content of the second alumina is preferably 9 mass % or less, in terms of oxide, based on the total mass of alumina and lanthanum oxide of the second alumina.

Provided is a porous structure for exhaust purification catalysts having excellent light-off temperature characteristics. The porous structure for exhaust purification catalysts includes an oxygen storage component and an inorganic porous solid. The porous structure has a pore volume distribution such that the ratio of the pore volume of pores with a diameter of from 15 nm to less than 25 nm to the pore volume of pores with a diameter of from 5 nm to less than 15 nm is 1.3 to 2.5 as measured with a mercury porosimeter. The pore volume distribution preferably has at least one peak top in a pore diameter range of from 15 nm to less than 25 nm.

In relation to a Cu-based delafossite-type oxide that is effective as an exhaust gas purification catalyst, Cu is placed in a high catalytic activity low-valence state, whereby a novel Cu-based delafossite-type oxide having higher activity than in the past is provided. Proposed is a delafossite-type oxide for an exhaust gas purification catalyst that is represented by a general formula ABO, wherein Cu and Ag are contained in the A site of the general formula, one or two or more elements selected from the group consisting of Mn, Al, Cr, Ga, Fe, Co, Ni, In, La, Nd, Sm, Eu, Y, V, and Ti are contained in the B site of the general formula, and Ag is contained at a ratio of 0.001 at. % or more and less than 20 at. % in the A site of the general formula.

Delafossite-type oxide for exhaust gas purification catalyst, and exhaust gas purification catalyst using same

Provided is a novel exhaust gas purification catalyst, which uses a Cu-based delafossite oxide, capable of increasing the exhaust gas purification performance compared to the case of using the Cu-based delafossite oxide alone. Proposed is an exhaust gas purification catalyst comprising a delafossite-type oxide represented by a general formula ABOand an inorganic porous material, wherein Cu is contained in the A site of the general formula of the delafossite oxide, one or two or more elements selected from the group consisting of Mn, Al, Cr, Ga, Fe, Co, Ni, In, La, Nd, Sm, Eu, Y, V, and Ti are contained in the B site thereof, and Cu is contained in 3 to 30% relative to the total content (mass) of the delafossite-type oxide and the inorganic porous material.
