To provide an inkjet printing apparatus that improves the smoothness of an ink surface and improves image quality. Provided is an inkjet printing apparatus for printing a UV curable ink onto a print medium. The inkjet printing apparatus including: an ejection unit configured to eject the UV curable ink; and a UV light source configured to irradiate, with ultraviolet light, the UV curable ink landed on the print medium, the print medium being formed from vinyl chloride. The inkjet printing apparatus further includes a heating unit configured to heat the print medium. The heating unit either heats the print medium to a temperature at which a solvent contained in the UV curable ink landed on the print medium does not volatilize or heats the print medium in a state in which the UV curable ink that lands on the print medium contains substantially no solvent.

To create a printed matter having favorable image quality that can prevent air bubbles from being trapped at the time when a protective film is attached to a medium. A method of creating printed matter includes: an ink arrangement step of ejecting a photocurable ink on a printing face of a medium by an inkjet method so that an average surface roughness of the printing face is smaller than 15 &#x3bc;m and irradiating the photocurable ink with a light to be cured; and a laminating step of attaching the protective film to the medium by bonding an adhesive layer of the protective film to the printing face and a surface of the photocurable ink, and the protective film including the adhesive layer having a thickness equal to or larger than 18 &#x3bc;m and a substrate supporting the adhesive layer.

Method of creating printed matter and printed matter

Both stability and high glossiness of a glossy ink used for printing can be achieved. A printer is provided that performs inkjet printing for a medium. The printer includes a glossy ink head as an inkjet head that discharges droplets of a glossy ink, a heater, and an ultraviolet light source. The glossy ink includes an ultraviolet-curable resin curable by being irradiated with ultraviolet light, a glossy pigment, and a solvent added to disperse the pigment. Particles of the glossy pigment have particle sizes less than or equal to 0.5 &#x3bc;m. The heater heats the medium to volatilize and strip the solvent in the ink. The ultraviolet light source irradiates dots of the glossy ink on the medium with ultraviolet light after a preset waiting time has passed subsequent to a timing of the droplets of the glossy ink landing on the medium.

A printing device and a printing method, which are by ink-jet technique an overcoat layer using an ink consisting of more suitable ingredients, are provided. The printing device is for performing printing by ink-jet technique, including: a color ink head being an inkjet head that forms a color ink layer on a medium using a color ink; an overcoat head being an inkjet head that forms an overcoat layer that covers the color ink layer; and a curing agent head being an inkjet head that discharges ink droplets of a curing agent, the curing agent being a liquid for curing an ink in the overcoat layer. The overcoat head discharges ink droplets of an ink prepared by dispersing in an organic solvent a curable material that is cured in reaction to the curing agent.

The control unit controls the inkjet head unit and the UVLED unit to move in the scanning direction, controls the inkjet heads to eject UV inks, and controls the UVLED to emit ultraviolet light of a first light quantity. After that, the control unit controls the inkjet head unit and the UVLED unit to move in the direction opposite to the scanning direction and controls the UVLED to emit ultraviolet light of a second light quantity.

An ultraviolet curing inkjet printer includes a first ejecting device, a first ultraviolet light irradiation device, and a second ultraviolet light irradiation device. The first ultraviolet light irradiation device is configured to emit ultraviolet light of a first light quantity for temporarily curing the ultraviolet curable inks ejected from the first ejecting device. The first ultraviolet light irradiation device is disposed posterior to the first ejecting device in a first direction as a scanning direction. The second ultraviolet light irradiation device is configured to emit ultraviolet light of a second light quantity for finally curing the ultraviolet curable inks temporarily cured by the first ultraviolet light irradiation device. The second ultraviolet light irradiation device is disposed anterior to the first ejecting device in a second direction, which is perpendicular to the first direction and is a moving direction of a recording medium relative to the first ejecting device.

An inkjet printer including a UVLED unit which emits ultraviolet light to a print medium supported on a supporting table to cure UV ink droplets deposited on the print medium. The inkjet printer further includes a controller which adjust the light quantity of ultraviolet light, emitted from the UVLED unit to the UV ink droplets deposited on the print medium, from a light quantity for temporary curing to a light quantity for final curing, and a control unit capable of selecting between a two-stage curing mode in which UV ink droplets deposited on the print medium are temporarily cured ant are then finally cured and a single-stage curing mode in which UV ink droplets are finally cured by an irradiation with ultraviolet light at one time by means of the UVLED unit and the controller.
