A steel wire is formed of a steel containing: not less than 0.6 mass % and not more than 0.7 mass % carbon, not less than 1.2 mass % and not more than 2.1 mass % silicon, not less than 0.2 mass % and not more than 0.6 mass % manganese, not less than 1.4 mass % and not more than 2 mass % chromium, and not less than 0.15 mass % and not more than 0.3 mass % vanadium, with the balance being iron and unavoidable impurities. The steel includes a matrix made up of tempered martensite, and a non-metallic inclusion present in the matrix. When √area of the non-metallic inclusion is represented as Hand √area of a region including both the non-metallic inclusion and a decreased-hardness portion is represented as H, a ratio of Hto H, or, H/His at least 1 and less than 1.3.

Steel wire and spring

A spring steel wire includes a main body made of a steel and having a line shape, and an oxidized layer covering an outer peripheral surface of the main body. The steel constituting the main body contains not less than 0.5 mass % and not more than 0.7 mass % C, not less than 1 mass % and not more than 2.5 mass % Si, not less than 0.2 mass % and not more than 1 mass % Mn, and not less than 0.5 mass % and not more than 2 mass % Cr, with the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities. The steel constituting the main body has a pearlite structure. The oxidized layer has a thickness of not less than 2 μm and not more than 5 μm. The oxidized layer contains not less than 60 mass % FeO.

Spring steel wire

A spring steel wire includes a main body made of a steel and having a line shape, and an oxidized layer covering an outer peripheral surface of the main body. The steel constituting the main body contains not less than 0.62 mass % and not more than 0.68 mass % C, not less than 1.6 mass % and not more than 2 mass % Si, not less than 0.2 mass % and not more than 0.5 mass % Mn, not less than 1.7 mass % and not more than 2 mass % Cr, and not less than 0.15 mass % and not more than 0.25 mass % V, with the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities. A value obtained by dividing a sum of a Si content and a Mn content by a Cr content is not less than 0.9 and not more than 1.4. The steel constituting the main body has a tempered martensite structure.

A canted coil spring includes a core wireformed of steel having a pearlite structure; and a copper plating layerformed of copper or a copper alloy and covering an outer circumferential surfaceof the core wire. The steel contains 0.5 mass % or more and 1.0 mass % or less carbon, 0.1 mass % or more and 2.5 mass % or less silicon, and 0.3 mass % or more and 0.9 mass % or less manganese, with the balance being iron and inevitable impurities. The copper plating layerhas a crystallite size of 220&#xb1;50 &#x212b;.

Canted coil spring and connector

A copper-coated steel wire includes: a core wire made of steel having a pearlite structure; and a coating layer covering a surface of the core wire and made of Cu or a Cu alloy. The steel contains C by greater than or equal to 0.5% by mass and less than or equal to 1.0% by mass, Si by greater than or equal to 0.1% by mass and less than or equal to 2.5% by mass, Mn by greater than or equal to 0.3% by mass and less than or equal to 0.9% by mass, and the balance consisting of Fe and inevitable impurities. In a cross section perpendicular to a longitudinal direction, a value of surface roughness Ra of the core wire is greater than or equal to 25% and less than or equal to 70% of a thickness of the coating layer.

Copper-coated steel wire and canted coil spring

A wire material for a canted coil spring includes a core wire composed of a steel having a pearlite structure, a copper plating layer covering the outer peripheral surface of the core wire, the copper plating layer being composed of copper or a copper alloy, and a hard layer disposed adjacent to the outer periphery of the copper plating layer, the hard layer having a higher hardness than the copper plating layer. The steel constituting the core wire contains 0.5% or more by mass and 1.0% or less by mass carbon, 0.1% or more by mass and 2.5% or less by mass silicon, and 0.3% or more by mass and 0.9% or less by mass manganese, the balance being iron and unavoidable impurities.

Wire material for canted coil spring and canted coil spring

A strand for a wiring harness includes a first element wire and a second element wire twisted around the first element wire and made of copper or a copper alloy. The first element wire includes a core portion made of stainless steel and a covering layer covering the core portion and made of copper or a copper alloy.

An object of the present invention is to improve machining speed by realizing both conductive properties and discharge performance with regard to an electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining, the electrode wire being obtained by plating a steel wire with a copper-zinc alloy. Another object is to suppress the occurrence of separation, cracking, and the like of plating in a wire-drawing step of an electrode wire. An electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining of the present invention includes a steel wire () serving as a core wire, and a plating layer () that covers the steel wire and that is composed of a copper-zinc alloy, in which an average zinc concentration of the plating layer is 60% to 75% by mass, a conductivity of the plating layer is 10% to 20% IACS, and a wire diameter is 30 to 200 &#x3bc;m.

Electrode wire for wire electric discharge machining, and method for producing same

Provided is a high-strength stainless steel spring exhibiting a good workability and having a high load characteristic. Thus, the high-strength stainless steel spring of the invention has an chemical component containing 0.04 to 0.08% by mass of C, 0.15 to 0.22% by mass of N, 0.3 to 2.0% by mass of Si, 0.5 to 3.0% by mass of Mn, 16 to 20% by mass of Cr, 8.0 to 10.5% by mass of Ni, 0.5 to 3.0% by mass of Mo, and the balance of Fe and inevitable impurities, and when the average diameter of the coil is represented by D and further the diameter of the steel wire is represented by d in the case that cross sections of the stainless steel wire are in a complete round form or the value obtained by subtracting the average coil diameter from the outer diameter of the coil is represented by d' in the case that the cross sections of the stainless steel wire are in a form other than the complete round form, the spring has a spring index D/d or D/d&#x2032; of 2 to 6.

High-strength stainless steel spring and method of manufacturing the same

A wire-harness use composite wire comprising a first element wire which comprises 0.01-0.25 mass % C, 0.01-0.25 mass % N, 0.5-4.0 mass % Mn, 16-20 mass % Cr,8.0-14.0 mass % Ni, and the balance of Fe and impurities and satisfies that a C+N content is in the range of 0.15 mass %&#x2266;C+N&#x2266;0.30 mass %, and a second element wire comprising at least one material selected from the group consisting of copper, copper alloy, aluminum, and aluminum alloy, the first element wire and the second element wire being twisted together.

Composite wire for wire-harness and process for producing the same

A high-strength steel wire for heat-resistant springs has both excellent high-temperature tensile strength and excellent high-temperature sag resistance at a temperature as high as 350 to 500&#xb0; C., particularly at 400&#xb0; C. or so (these properties are needed for spring materials). The steel wire contains (a) 0.01 to 0.08 wt % C, 0.18 to 0.25 wt % N, 0.5 to 4.0 wt % Mn, 16 to 20 wt % Cr, and 8.0 to 10.5 wt % Ni, (b) at least one constituent selected from the group consisting of 0.1 to 3.0 wt % Mo, 0.1 to 2.0 wt % Nb, 0.1 to 2.0 wt % Ti and 0.3 to 2.0 wt % Si, and (c) mainly Fe and unavoidable impurities both of which constitute the remainder. The steel wire has (a) a tensile strength of at least 1,300 N/mmand less than 2,000 N/mmbefore being treated with low-temperature annealing, and (b) a maximum crystal-grain diameter of less than 12 &#x3bc;m in the &#x3b3; phase (austenite) in a transverse cross section of the wire.

Steel wire for heat-resistant spring, heat-resistant spring and method for producing heat-resistant spring

A lightweight insulated electric wire and an automobile wire harness using the same insulated electric wire where the insulated electric wire has a conductor portion including one or more first wires and one or more second wires, which are stranded together. The first wires are constituted by metal wires made from at least one type of metal selected from copper, copper alloy, aluminum and aluminum alloy. The second wires are constituted by metal wires different from the first wires and have a relative permeability of 4.0 or less.

Covered wire and automobile-use wire harness

An Ni-based or Ni&mdash;Co-based heat-resistant alloy wire excellent in resistance to sag at high temperatures ranging from 600 to 700&deg; C., which excellent resistance is most suitable for spring materials. The heat-resistant alloy wire contains (a) 0.01 to 0.40 wt % C, 5.0 to 25.0 wt % Cr, and 0.2 to 8.0 wt % Al; (b) at least one constituent selected from the group consisting of 1.0 to 18.0 wt % Mo, 0.5 to 15.0 wt % W, 0.5 to 5.0 wt % Nb, 1,0 to 10.0 wt % Ta, 0.1 to 5.0 wt % Ti and 0.001 to 0.05 wt % B; (c) at least one constituent selected from the group consisting of 3.0 to 20.0 wt % Fe and 1.0 to 30.0 wt % Co; and (d) the remaining constituent consisting mainly of Ni and unavoidable impurities. The wire has (a) a tensile strength not less than 1,400 N/mm and less than 1,800 N/mm , (b) an average crystal-grain diameter not less than 5 &mgr;m and less than 50 &mgr;m in a cross section, and (c) a crystal-grain aspect ratio (a major-axis/minor-axis ratio) of 1.2 to 10 in a longitudinal section.

Heat-resistant alloy wire

A combination of an adjusting shim and a cam used in a valve train in an internal combustion engine for automobiles, the adjusting shim composed of a ceramic material which sets the surface roughness of a sliding surface of the adjusting shim with respect to a cam to not more than 0.1 .mu.m in ten-point mean roughness Rz, and which contains not less than 60 vol. % of silicon nitride or sialon, and the cam composed of cast iron a surface of which is chill hardened and then provided with a phosphate film thereon. The combination of an adjusting shim and a cam is capable of smoothing a sliding surface of the cam by the break-in of the part even if the cam is not subjected to a super-precision finishing process; preventing the seizure and abnormal abrasion of sliding surfaces; stabilizing a smoothed condition of the sliding surfaces of the cam and shim for a long period of time; and providing excellent sliding characteristics of the sliding surfaces owing to a decrease in the friction coefficient thereof.
