A flame retardant solid electrolyte comprising an ion conductive polymer matrix having moieties capable of imparting flame retardance to the polymer matrix and ether bonds in the molecule and an electrolyte salt dispersed in the polymer matrix. The flame retardant solid electrolyte may be one which comprises a non-ion-conductive polymer matrix and a liquid electrolyte consisting of an electrolyte salt dissolved in a solvent therefor, which is dispersed in the polymer matrix. The flame retardance-imparting moieties are derived from halogen or phosphorus-bearing compounds.

Electrode for organic battery

An electrochromic display device for use in automobiles, etc. comprises a plurality of mutually parallel strip-shaped display electrodes, a plurality of mutually parallel strip-shaped opposite electrodes, electrochemically-color-developing solid layers, solid electrolyte layers as intermediate layers, and an electrically insulating layer. The display electrodes and the opposite electrodes are arranged so as to three-dimensionally intersect each other. The electrochemically-color-developing solid layers and the solid electrolyte layers are present only at the spaces formed by the intersection between the display electrodes and the opposite electrodes. The electrically insulating layer occupies all portions other than the electrodes, electrochemically-color-developing solid layers and solid electrolyte layers within the device.

Electrochromic display device

An electrode for use in an organic cell is provided by forming a thin film of a metal such as aluminum on the sheet of an organic electroconductive material such as polyacetylene by, for example, a vacuum evaporation method, and then forming an atom-interdiffused layer at the interface between the sheet and the thin film by a recoil ion implantation method, thereby enhancing the current collecting efficiency of the electrode.
