To provide mercury-removal adsorbents, a method of producing mercury-removal adsorbents, and a method of removing mercury by adsorption which are capable of realizing efficient removal of mercury by adsorption from liquid hydrocarbon, thermal power station exhaust combustion gas, natural gas, off gas of various process plants, and so on which contain mercuries in various forms such as elemental mercury, ionic mercury, and organic mercury, and a concomitant hindering mercury adsorption. Mercury-removal adsorbents carrie potassium iodide in an amount of 27 to 70% of a total adsorbent weight, and a volume of pores with a 1 &#x3bc;m pore diameter or more in the mercury-removal adsorbents is 0.6 mL/g or more. These mercury-removal adsorbents are filled in, for example, an adsorption tower, and a hydrocarbon liquid is passed therethrough (mercury removal step). In a case where the hydrocarbon liquid contains saturated water, a dehydration unitor the like is installed on a preceding stage of the adsorption towerto dehydrate the hydrocarbon liquid (dehydration step).

A reactor for synthesizing hydrogen sulfide in which sulfur and hydrogen are subjected to gas-phase reaction in the absence of a catalyst to synthesize hydrogen sulfide, the reactor including: a reactor body that retains liquid sulfur in a bottom portion thereof; a heating unit that gasifies part of the liquid sulfur; a hydrogen gas supply unit that supplies hydrogen gas into the liquid sulfur; and a heat-exchanging portion provided in a gas-phase reaction region located above the liquid surface of the liquid sulfur in the reactor body, wherein heat-exchanging portion is configured such that the reaction temperature in the gas-phase reaction region is controlled to be within a predetermined temperature range by changing the heat exchange amount per unit volume in a gas-phase reaction region located farther from the liquid surface from the heat exchange amount per unit volume in a gas-phase reaction region located closer to the liquid surface.

A mercury removal apparatus for a liquid hydrocarbon includes a conversion device which converts a mercury component in a raw liquid hydrocarbon into elemental mercury to obtain a first liquid hydrocarbon containing the elemental mercury. The apparatus also includes a first stripping device which brings the first liquid hydrocarbon into counter-current contact with a first stripping gas, thereby transferring the elemental mercury in the first liquid hydrocarbon to the first stripping gas to obtain (i) a second liquid hydrocarbon in which the amount of the elemental mercury decreases and (ii) a first gaseous hydrocarbon containing the elemental mercury.

Mercury removal apparatus for liquid hydrocarbon

In a crystallization method, a liquid mixture containing a crystallizable component is cooled so as to form and separate crystals of the crystallizable component. Then, a purified melt having purity substantially equal to that of the separated crystals, to which a polymerization inhibitor is added and which is heated to a temperature higher than a freezing point of the separated crystals, is circulated to flow contacting the crystals so as to accelerate melting. Then, the melted crystals are recovered along with the purified melt containing the polymerization inhibitor.

Crystallization method

Crystallization method and crystallization apparatus each use vertical plates for crystallization thereon. Both surfaces of the plate are used for different two liquids to flow down as films. Specifically, on one vertical surface, a feed liquid mixture containing crystallizable components therein flows down as a film, and on an opposite vertical surface, a cooling medium flows down as a film. Accordingly, the crystallizable component contained in the feed liquid mixture is cooled and crystallized to form crystal layers on the one vertical surface of the plate. The formed crystal layers are melted by a heating medium which flows down on the opposite vertical surface, and are collected as a melt. A pair of the plates may be used to form a unit to purify the liquid mixture on a large scale. A number of the units may be used to form a block which is suitable for a larger-scale crystallization processing. Further, a number of the blocks may be used to purify the liquid mixtures on a further larger-scale processing.
