A luminance determining unit determines a luminance distribution of an exterior circumstantial image in a line-of-sight direction of a driver, and a luminance changing unit determines a bright region of this luminance distribution. Further, the luminance changing unit determines a luminance after the change in a peripheral region of this bright region. A virtual-image creating unit creates a virtual image based on the determined luminance, and a display processing unit displays this virtual image on a display unit. In this manner, since a display system displays the virtual image for use in increasing the luminance in periphery of the bright region, the feeling of the brightness for the driver can be moderated, and therefore, the visual recognition can be improved. That is, the display system can output the virtual image depending on the circumstances.

Display system and display method

A HUD apparatus that is an AR display apparatus mounted on an on-vehicle system includes: an image selection unit configured to input an image photographed by a camera, select and extract an area of an object from the image; a visibility judgment unit configured to judge visibility of a user with respect to the area of the object on a basis of an index value; an AR image generator unit configured to generate an AR image regarding the object by subjecting the area to image processing for improving the visibility on a basis of the visibility of the area of the object; and an AR display unit configured to superimpose and display the AR image onto a screen. The visibility judgment unit controls whether the AR image is to be displayed or not and content of the image processing to be changed in accordance with the visibility.

AR display apparatus and AR display method

The relation between the cover layer thickness of a data recording surface and ratio &#x3b1; of SCO to SCD is previously calculated and stored in a storage unit, where SCD denotes coma aberration which occurs when the data recording medium is tilted by unit angle and SCO denotes coma aberration which occurs when the objective lens is tilted by unit angle. When &#x3b1;denotes ratio &#x3b1; for a data recording surface corresponding to the smallest cover layer thickness, tilting angle &#x3b8;of the objective lens is determined based on the &#x3b1;and a tilt adjustment of the objective lens is made. Also, when &#x3b1;denotes ratio &#x3b1; for a target data recording surface, tilting angle &#x3b8;of the objective lens is estimated based on the ratio of &#x3b1;to &#x3b1;and a tilt correction of the objective lens is made.

Optical data recording/reproduction apparatus

An optical pickup equipped with a laser light source which emits light beams of at least three wavelengths for recording/reproducing a plurality of information recording media detects light quantities of the light beams of three wavelengths using one light intensity monitor element. More specifically, one light intensity monitor element is arranged between a first laser light source and a second laser light source, light beams of wavelength &#x3bb;and wavelength &#x3bb;emitted from the first laser light source are made to proceed substantially straightforward, the optical path of the light beam of wavelength &#x3bb;emitted from the second laser light source is changed to a diagonal one so as to cause the light beam to be introduced diagonally to the light receiving surface of the one light intensity monitor element. Furthermore, the central axis line of the light receiving surface of the one light intensity monitor element is separated from the emitted light axis of the first laser light source and a reflecting member is provided above the emitting light axis of the second laser light source.

Optical pickup and optical information recording and reproducing device

In an information reproducing apparatus in which a liquid crystal lens element is used for the selection and switching of layers, the instability of servo control during the switching of the layers due to the overlapping of signals from two layers is eliminated and the focal point is shifted onto the correct switched layer. During the switching of the liquid crystal lens, a focus bias is added depending on the direction in which the layers are switched so as to stabilize servo control. Alternatively, the objective lens is held during the switching and after the switching of the liquid crystal lens element, the hold state is released in synchronization with the rotation of the disk.

Information reproducing apparatus

The invention provides an optical disc apparatus which restricts an operation sound generated from an objective lens driving portion of an optical pickup and has a reduce sound, in an optical disc apparatus, in particular, an optical disc apparatus installing a microphone for recording an external voice therein.
