An image forming and recording apparatus, having a fixing apparatus for fixing unfixed toner image on a recording medium, wherein the fixing apparatus includes a fixing roller integrating a heater therein, an endless belt wound around the fixing roller, and three pressure members for pressing the endless belt onto the fixing roller. A pressure member located nearest to a side of entry of paper among the three pressure members is made up with a non-rotary type pressure member, and other two pressure members are made up with either one of a rotary type pressure member and the non-rotary type pressure member.

A fixing device in an image formation apparatus has a heating roller and a backup roller. These rollers are each coated with single silicone rubber layers around the respective peripheries of their core bars. This silicone rubber has a volume resistance value of 10 &OHgr;&middot;cm or more. The heating roller is charged with electricity of the same polarity as the polarity of toner particles due to frictional electrification caused at the time of feeding of a recording medium. The heating and the backup roller are polarized reverse to the polarity of the recording medium. A quantity of charged electricity on the backup roller is made larger than that on the heating roller. This permits the image formation apparatus to prevent offset from occurring at the time of fixing a toner image onto the recording medium to cope with various types of recording media.

Fixing device improved in offset-prevention

A heating belt is laid along a conveying path for a recording medium moved after development, a halogen lamp is incorporated in a belt drive roller for driving the heating belt so as to heat the heating belt by heat generated by the halogen lamp, and accordingly, the heating belt whose temperature is controlled at a predetermined temperature heats the recording sheet. With this arrangement, the conveying speed of the recording sheet and the moving speed of the heating belt are set to be equal to each other. Alternatively, the heating belt may itself generate heat.

A toner image heating device for heating a recording material holding a toner image includes: a first heating roller having a plurality of heaters which are different in heat generating region from one another; and a second heating roller having a plurality of heaters which are different in heat generating region from one another. A heat generating region dividing position between said heaters adjacent to each other in said second heating roller is shifted from a heat generating region dividing position between said heaters adjacent to each other in said first heating roller.

Toner image heating device

In a color electrophotographic apparatus, a belt fixing device which includes a pressure roller and a plurality of belt transport rollers for rotating a belt are provided for fixing unfixed toner. In the belt fixing device, a heating roller and a driving roller, which constitute the belt transport rollers, are always kept in contact with the pressure roller so that a fixing belt is curved in contact with the pressure roller, and after fused toner has been cooled, the driving roller applies pressure to the toner to separate the toner from the belt. According to this arrangement, a small-sized fixing device is achieved in which no silicone oil is needed and in which the running stability of sheets and the fixing belt is superior so that a high-quality fixed image can be obtained. A color electrophotographic apparatus using such a fixing device is also achieved.

Electrophotographic apparatus and belt fixing device with non-uniform

A facsimile apparatus has a lower structure and an upper structure which is swingable between a raised open position an a lowered close position about a pivot located at a lower part of the rear end portion of the apparatus. A thermal print head is fixed to the front end portion of the upper structure. A recording medium conveyor roller is fixed to the front end portion of the lower structure. A linear image sensor and an original sheet conveyor roller are fixed to a central portion of the lower structure. The recording medium is placed on the lower structure at a position between the thermal print head and the linear image sensor.

Facsimile apparatus

A facsimile apparatus has a lower structure and an upper structure which is swingable between a raised open position an a lowered closed position about a pivot located at a lower part of the rear end portion of the apparatus. A thermal print head is fixed to the front end portion of the upper structure. A recording medium conveyor roller is fixed to the front end portion of the lower structure. A linear image sensor and an original sheet conveyor roller are fixed to a central portion of the lower structure. The recording medium is placed on the lower structure at a position between the thermal print head and the linear image sensor.
