A display device for an outboard motor includes a storage device storing unique information of the outboard motor. The display device for the outboard motor has a gauge mode and a service tool mode as display modes. By mounting the display device for the outboard motor to a specific boat, both an operating state of the outboard motor and the unique information of the outboard motor are displayable in the gauge mode. Only the unique information of the outboard motor is displayable in the service tool mode. The display modes are configured to be switched between the gauge mode and the service tool mode.

Display device for outboard motor

To display a multidimensional code representing unique information of an outboard motor, a display device ensures switchably displaying the multidimensional code representing identical information by a plurality of display patterns where ease of reading is mutually different. A multidimensional code creating unit converts the unique information of the outboard motor into the multidimensional code and creates the multidimensional codes by two patterns. That is, a first multidimensional code creating unit creates a multidimensional code for a display pattern that represents the unique information of the outboard motor by the predetermined count of N (one or plural) multidimensional codes. A second multidimensional code creating unit creates a multidimensional code for a display pattern that represents the unique information of the outboard motor by the multidimensional code by reducing an information volume represented by one multidimensional code and increasing the count of multidimensional codes more than the predetermined count N.

Display controller

A fuel supply system of an outboard motor for supplying a fuel stored in a fuel tank to an intake port of an engine includes: a vapor separator which is disposed on one of left and right sides of the engine in terms of a traveling direction of a hull and to whose upper portion a vapor vent pipe having a tip open to an atmosphere is connected; and an in-line high-pressure fuel pump which is connected to the vapor separator via a fuel pipe and to whose upper portion an air vent pipe passing a position higher than the fuel pipe is connected, wherein the vapor vent pipe includes a folded portion formed so as to extend toward the other side out of the left and right sides of the engine and thereafter return to the one side.

Fuel supply system of outboard motor

A fuel supply system of an outboard motor includes: a vapor separator which separates a fuel sent from a fuel tank by a low-pressure fuel pump into gas and liquid to release fuel vapor to an atmosphere; a fuel cooler which is disposed under the vapor separator to cool the fuel by cooling water passing through a cooling water pipe; a drain pipe connected to a side surface of the fuel cooler which faces downward while the outboard motor is tilted up; and an in-line high-pressure fuel pump connected in a middle of a fuel pipe connected to a side surface of the fuel cooler different from the side surface to which the drain pipe is connected. It is possible to easily and surely draw off the fuel in the fuel pipe while the outboard motor is tilted up.

An exhaust system of an outboard motor includes: an exhaust passage forward portion including exhaust passages for leading exhaust in the exhaust passage of an exhaust manifold; an exhaust passage reversed portion formed in parallel with the exhaust passage of the exhaust passage forward portion and including exhaust passages communicating with an exhaust passage in an engine holder; and an exhaust passage U-turn portion including an exhaust passage communicating with the exhaust passage of the exhaust passage forward portion and the exhaust passage of the exhaust passage reversed portion. A catalyst for purifying the exhaust is disposed at a junction between the exhaust passages.

Exhaust system of outboard motor

An outboard motor includes a multi-cylinder engine which includes cylinders longitudinally oriented and vertically paralleled in a cylinder block, a cylinder head arranged at a rearward position of the cylinder blocks, and a crankcase arranged at a forward position of the cylinder block, the cylinder head having an outlet of an exhaust port at one side thereof. An exhaust system for the outboard motor includes an exhaust manifold which communicates the outlet of the exhaust port with an exhaust outlet opening, the exhaust manifold including a first exhaust gas passage extending in a vertical direction for gathering exhaust gas discharged from the outlet of each exhaust port and a second exhaust gas passage extending in a vertical direction adjacently to the first exhaust gas passage, and a catalyst unit is provided on the way of the second exhaust gas passage.

An intake device for outboard motors, which makes it possible to improve intake performance and reduce the size of the device at the same time. Cylinder banks have a plurality of cylinder bores arranged in a vertical direction, and extend rearward to form a V shape. Intake ports of the respective cylinder bores are formed in the cylinder banks to open in the inner sides of the V shape. An intake manifold is connected to the intake ports. A surge tank is connected to the intake manifold. A throttle body is connected to the surge tank. The surge tank comprises a plurality of intake passage members connected to the respective cylinder bores via the intake manifold, wall members provided between respective adjacent ones of the intake passage members, and a lid member configured to hermetically close a space defined by the intake passage members and the wall members.

Intake device for outboard motors

A shift system for outboard motors, which is reduced in size, and is capable securing compatibility with an outboard motor of a type for which the shift operation is manually performed using a shift cable. A motor-driven shift actuator is disposed at a location forward of and to the right of an engine within an engine cover covering the engine. A clutch motor is provided for the actuator and disposed at a location rearward thereof, with a motor output shaft disposed in a manner extending forward, and is operated in response to the detected vessel operator's shift. An actuator output shaft is disposed at a location forward of the clutch motor and extends downward from a front part of the actuator. The actuator output shaft rotates in accordance with rotation of the motor output shaft. A clutch shaft is disposed below the actuator and rearward of the actuator output shaft. A first linkage is disposed on the right side of the actuator, as viewed in plan view, and connects between the actuator output shaft and the clutch shaft.
