An electrochemical stain prevention apparatus of a submerged structure comprising a submerged structure of which at least the stain prevention surface is formed of a conductive film that does not generate chlorine even by applying a potential of 5 V vs. SCE or less, a counter electrode located so as not to contact with the submerged structure, and a power supply unit for passing a direct current through the submerged structure having the conductive film formed thereon and the counter electrode. Aquatic organisms adhered to the surface of the conductive film can effectively be controlled by applying a potential of from 0.1 to 5 V vs. SCE to the submerged structure of such a stain prevention apparatus without generating chlorine. A potential applied to the conductive film of the submerged structure can be controlled with good accuracy by disposing a reference electrode between the submerged structure and the counter electrode. As the conductive film formed on the substrate of the submerged structure, a sprayed coating film made of a metal nitride can preferably be used.

Electrochemical stain prevention apparatus of submerged structure and process for producing submerged structure used in this apparatus

A printing and displaying apparatus for printing characters on a heat-sensitive recording medium and, at the same time, providing a visual display of printed characters to permit visual observation of the state of printing. The apparatus comprises a transparent platen having a surface area larger than the area of one frame of the recording medium which is brought into engagement at its heat-sensitive surface with the associated surface of the platen, and a thermal printing head making printing engagement with the non-heat-sensitive surface of the recording medium. The thermal printing head is carried by a carriage which is mounted on supporting means supporting the carriage so as to be movable in both the row direction and the column direction. This supporting means is controlled by drive means and drive control means so that the printing head can be moved to any desired position within the extent of one frame of the recording medium. Characters being printed on the recording medium can thus be observed through the transparent platen.

Printing and displaying apparatus

An input pen assembly is provided which selectively cooperates with the screen of a cathode ray tube of a CRT display and the tablet of a tablet input device. The assembly automatically activates either one of the CRT display and the tablet input device in response to a change in the magnitude of a pressure applied by the pen against the screen of the CRT or the tablet. The input pen assembly includes an electrode which has its one end projecting forwardly of the front end of a casing and which is used for detecting a signal from the tablet. The electrode is formed with a through-opening which defines a light transmission path for a signal from the CRT display. Additionally the input pen assembly includes a spring which resiliently biases the electrode so that its front end projects forwardly of the front end of the casing, and a movable member which is disposed for movement with the electrode when the latter is retracted against the resilience of the spring. The movable member is movable between a first position corresponding to an initial position of the electrode where no pressure is applied thereto, a second position corresponding to a position assumed by the electrode when a given pressure is applied thereto as it is brought into abutment against the tablet, and a third position corresponding to a position assumed by the electrode as an increased pressure is applied thereto when it is brought into abutment against the screen of a cathode ray tube. Two of the three positions are associated with position detectors for detecting the extant position of the movable member. A logical combination of output signals from these position detectors provides a determination as to the position assumed by the electrode, thereby selectively activating the tablet input device or the CRT display.

Input pen assembly

A capacitively coupled tablet for use with a probe comprises two sets of conductors spaced apart along coordinate axes to form a matrix, and an overlay disposed above the conductors and forming a plurality of key segments associated with the individual points of intersection of the matrix. A plurality of isolated electrode plates are disposed between the sets of conductors and the overlay at positions corresponding to each of the key segments, the electrode plates each being formed of a conductive material and having a size commensurate with the key segment. When a probe is applied against a particular key segment from over the overlay, the probe is capacitively coupled with selected conductors of the respective sets through the electrode plates.
