A final drive differentially for distributing torque input into a shaft via a differential device to a pair of axles is provided with a ring gear coupled via gearing to the shaft to transmit the torque to the differential device. A housing unitarily includes a main portion supporting the shaft and enclosing the differential device, and a wall portion including a first opening through which one of the axles passes and supporting a first end of the differential device. A cover included a second opening through which the other of the axles passes, and is combined with the housing to support a second end of the differential device, wherein the wall portion, the ring gear, and the shaft are arranged, from the wall portion toward the cover, in an order of the wall portion, the ring gear, and the shaft.

Final drive

A differential device is provided with: an input member; a gear set with output gears to transmit torque from the input member to the output gears while allowing differential motion therebetween; a first clutch for limiting the differential motion; a first pressure pressing on the first clutch; a first cam mechanism for pressing the first pressure plate toward the first clutch; a second clutch, when connected, drivingly connecting the output gears with the input member; a second pressure plate for engaging the second clutch; and a rotatable driver disk including a pressing member so coupled with the cam mechanism as to, from a first position to a second position, rotate the first cam mechanism together and to, from the second position to a third position, allow the first cam mechanism to create rotational difference relative to the pressing member, thereby engaging the second clutch.

Differential device with two-step ability to limit differential motion

A power transmission apparatus is provided with a first rotational member, a second rotational member, a clutch device for coupling a power transmission between the first rotational member and the second rotational member, and a ring shape actuator of the clutch device. A rotational axis of one of the first rotational member and the second rotational member penetrates through a radially internal space of the ring shape actuator.

Power transmission apparatus

A power transmission apparatus includes a case having a first member and a second member. A first shaft extending in a first direction and a second shaft extending in a second direction intersecting with the first direction are accommodated in the case. A fastener for fastening the first member and the second member to each other is inserted through a hole formed in the first member. A bearing support part for supporting the second shaft is formed in the first member. In a third direction perpendicular to both of the first direction and the second direction, a whole of the hole is positioned in one side in the third direction than an inner peripheral end of the bearing support part in the one side in the third direction.

A power transfer unit assembly for a vehicle. The power transfer unit includes a cantilevered ring gear assembly configured on a housing cover. The housing cover is configured to mate to a main housing that may be configured in a vehicle drivetrain. The power transfer unit may include at least one engagement mechanism configured to selectively engage and disengage the cantilevered ring gear assembly.

A power takeoff unit transmits torque taken from a transmission of a vehicle to an output shaft. The power takeoff unit is comprised of a casing combinable with the transmission at a first end; a first shaft receiving the torque about a first axis; a second shaft rotatable about the first axis; a clutch slidably fitting with the second shaft and being directed to the first shaft, the clutch being movable along the first axis between a first position to interrupt transmission of the torque and a second position to transmit the torque from the first shaft to the second shaft; a first gear projecting from the bearing toward the first end and being rotatable along with the second shaft without any support excepting the bearing; and a third shaft including a second gear meshing with the first gear, thereby outputting the transmitted torque.
