The present invention provides a crimping apparatus that can adapt widely to various diameters of the insulating coatings of wires. The crimping apparatus has a crimp height adjustment mechanism for an insulating coating of a wire, the front of the crimping apparatus facing in a direction opposite to the direction of a core of the wire. The adjustment mechanism includes a shaft member having a regular polygon part and an eccentric shaft part that are connected thereto, and an adjustment dial which is disposed in the eccentric shaft part so as to face in the same direction as the front of the crimping apparatus. Therefore, this crimping apparatus can perform the crimping of terminals having various diameters of the insulating coatings of wires.

A wire-crimping device detects if an electrical terminal is stuck to a crimper after crimping, thereby effectively eliminating deformed terminals. Electrical wire-crimping device (1) has a ram (42) slidably mounted to a housing (4). A reflection light sensor (60) is mounted to the housing (4), and a pathway (80) that communicates with a wire-crimping member (40) is located in the ram (42). If an electrical terminal (30) should stick to crimpers (50, 52) after crimping, and if the wire-crimping member (40) mounted to the ram (42) rises, a wire depressor (54) will also rise, and an upper end of the wire depressor (54) will block the pathway (80). As a result, the light emitted from the reflection light sensor (60) will be reflected and detected by a light sensor, and it will be electrically detected that a defective part has been produced.

A wire-supplying device comprises wire-supplying drums (15) for supplying a plurality of wires (16), a wire-feeding roller (21) for feeding the plurality of wires (16), a weight roller (28) mounted on a sliding member (27) supported on rods (26) for vertical movement therealong, a stopping member (30) on the sliding member (27) for engagement with the rods (26) to stop vertical movement of the sliding member (27), and actuation means for moving and maintaining the stopping member (30) against the rods (26).
