In order to obtain an amount of fuel injection determined by a target fuel injection amount determining unit (,) from an injector (,) supplied with high-pressure fuel from a high-pressure pump (,), there is provided a reference injection period determining unit (,) responsive to a target fuel amount signal (Qt) for determining a reference injection period (Tr) and a correction amount calculating unit (,) responsive to the reference injection period (Tr) and the rotational speed (R) of a high-pressure pump (,) for calculating a correction amount (F) for correcting the error caused by decrease in fuel pressure during the period of fuel injection, whereby an actual injection period (Ta) is determined by correcting the reference injection period (Tr) by the correction value (F). Method of jetting high-pressure fuel and apparatus therefor

A solenoid driving apparatus includes at least two solenoids of which driving periods do not overlap, a driving unit for driving each solenoid, and a signal generating unit for giving the driving unit a control signal information of each solenoid. The driving unit includes circuit sections jointly used with regard to the driving of each solenoid, and drives each solenoid based on the control signal information corresponding to each solenoid. The signal generating unit generates the control signal information of each solenoid which is given to the driving unit based on the drive pulse signal corresponding to each solenoid. Also, while a control signal information is given to the driving unit based on the drive pulse signal corresponding to one solenoid, the signal generating unit does not accept the input of any drive pulse signal even when a drive pulse corresponding to the other solenoid is generated by a noise. Thereby, malfunctions and adverse effects on the driving apparatus due to the simultaneous use of common circuit sections of the driving unit for driving more than one solenoid can be prevented.

Solenoid driving apparatus

An apparatus for driving an electromagnetic load by applying a high voltage at the initial driving stage and thereafter applying a constant hold current is provided with a switch for supplying high-voltage energy to the electromagnetic load from a capacitor for storing high-voltage energy and a control circuit responsive to an electric signal for starting electromagnetic load driving and the output voltage of the capacitor. The control circuit turns the switch on at application of the electric signal and keeps it on until the output voltage reaches a prescribed level. The apparatus of this configuration enables optimum timing of changeover from high-voltage application mode operation to hold mold operation with simple circuitry.

Method and apparatus for high-speed driving of electromagnetic load

A high-pressure fuel injection system which has a fuel injection unit including an injector, a fuel pump for supplying a high-pressure fuel to the fuel injection unit, a motor for driving the fuel pump, a PID controller for controlling the operation of the motor, a device for measuring an actual fuel pressure in the fuel injection unit, a device for calculating a deviation of the actual fuel pressure from a predetermined desired fuel pressure and for inputting the deviation to the PID controller as an actuating signal, and a device for calculating a desired fuel injection quantity per injection from input signals indicating an engine speed, an accelerator opening, etc. A manipulated variable which is given as an output from the PID controller is supplied to the motor as an input to control the motor. The system further has a device for calculating an injection quantity per unit time on the basis of the desired injection quantity, and a motor input correcting device which corrects the PID controller itself or the output from it so that the input to be supplied to the motor from the PID controller is corrected on the basis of the calculated per-unit time injection quantity.

A transmission control system with gear shift failure detection includes a transmission (1), each gear of which is equipped with a synchromesh mechanism (1e); an actuator unit (2) consisting of a shift actuator (2a) for making a gear shift in a shift direction and a select actuator (2b) for making a gear shift in a select direction; a control unit (4) for calculating a target position signal (M) from an amount of pressdown of an accelerator pedal, a vehicle speed, and a set position of a gear selector to control not only the actuator unit so that a gear is set within a target range but also a clutch so that connection or disconnection is made according to an operation of the transmission; a position detector (2f, 2g) provided in each of the shift and select actuators for detecting a position of a piston rod (2c, 2d); a servo cylinder (2a, 2b) in response to a signal from the position detector to position the piston rod at a given position of each gear; a speed detector (4a) in response to a signal from the position detector of the shift actuator to detect an operational speed of the piston rod of the shift actuator; and a decision maker (4b) in response to a signal from the speed detector to decide that a gear shift is faulted if the operation speed is lower than a reference speed for a predetermined time outside a synchromesh mechanism operational range of the transmission.

In a method for automatically controlling the gear-shifting operation of a vehicle gear transmission so as to shift the transmission to a calculated target position according to the vehicle operation parameter(s), the stability of the calculated target position is discriminated and the required gear-shifting operation is carried out only when the stability satisfies a prescribed condition, whereby unnecessary gear-shifting operations can be effectively eliminated even if for some reason the calculated target gear position frequently changes.

Method for controlling vehicle automatic transmission systems

In an automatic transmission system having a selector and a generator responsive to the operation of the selector for generating electric information indicating the operation condition of the selector, the nature of the malfunction or trouble arising in the generator is discriminated on the basis of the change in the electric information. This discrimination may be made as to whether or not there is a malfunction condition wherein no information is obtained for any set position, whether or not there is a malfunction condition wherein the information indicating a specific position is always produced. When there is a malfunction therein, the position set by the selector is assumed by taking into account the nature of the malfunction, making it possible to control the gear-shift operation even if there is malfunction.

System for automatically controlling transmission for vehicles

In a system for automatically controlling a gear transmission wherein an actuator device coupled with an operation member for the gear-shifting operation of the transmission is controlled for shifting the transmission to a target gear position, the system is provided with a first control unit for producing target signals indicating target gear positions and transmission data showing the relationships between specific gear positions of the gear transmission and positions of the operation member. An automatic transmission with an engine rpm sensor fault detector includes a starter switch (18); a clutch (6) for transmitting an output of an engine (8); a clutch control unit for controlling engagement of the clutch; a transmission (1); an engine rpm sensor (9); a an input shaft sensor (5a); a gear position sensor (40a) for detecting a gear position of the transmission; a control unit (4) for controlling the clutch control unit based on outputs of the respective detectors and enables the starter switch to operate when the transmission is in a neutral position. The control unit includes a starter switch detector (40b) for determining whether the starter switch is on and a fault determination unit (40c) for determining whether the first detector is faulty. The fault determination unit controls the clutch control unit to engage the clutch temporarily if there is no output from the first detector with the starter switch on and determines that the first detector is faulty if there is an output from the second detector.

Automatic transmission with sensor fault detector

A clutch control apparatus for controlling the operation of a friction type clutch comprises a data generator responsive to an engaging command signal for generating an electric signal corresponding to the time-course in a target clutch stroke pattern for engaging the clutch. The actual clutch stroke of the clutch is adjusted by the use of a clutch actuator coupled with the clutch in response to the electric signal in such a way that the actual clutch stroke is made to coincide with the target clutch stroke at each instant, whereby the actual clutch stroke varies in accordance with the desired time-course pattern for engaging the clutch after the application of the engaging command signal. The initial target clutch stroke of the desired pattern may be corrected in accordance with the amount of operation of an acceleration member to reduce the dead time in the torque transmission through the clutch.

In an electronically controlled automatic transmission system including a gear transmission and a clutch, in which a target gear position is determined in accordance with map data for gear-shift control, it is discriminated whether or not the vehicle is in accelerating condition and necessary control for shifting up the transmission to the target gear position is carried out only when the vehicle is not in the accelerating state. Thus, when the driver presses hard on an accelerating member to accelerate the vehicle, a series operations for shifting up is not carried out, whereby the transmission is kept in its present gear position. The operation for shifting up can be carried out after the completion of the acceleration of the vehicle.
