Provided are a ligand-bearing substrate which has a surface at least partially coated with a polymer (P3) containing structural units represented by the formulae (1) and (1) (in the formulae, R, R, X, Y, L, Q, Q, Q, m1, m2 and n are as described in the claims and description); a raw material for such a substrate; and a method for producing such substrates.

Substrates coated with selective cell separation or cell culture polymers

Disclosed are a cell culture substrate that can be modified from its cell-inadhesibleness to make it cell-adhesible, by a convenient and low-cost treatment, and particularly, a substrate that allows position-specific culture of one or more kinds of cells. The substrate has on its surface a layer made of a photomodifiable polymer that comprises a monomer, as component (A), represented by Formula (1):

There is provided a new material that can form a finer pattern and can be applied to adsorption/adhesion control of various cell species, proteins, viruses, and the like without the limitation of the light source. A light-degradable material comprising: a moiety that is capable of bonding to a surface of a substrate through a siloxane bond; and a structural unit of Formula (2-a) and/or Formula (2-b): (where Rto Rare saturated linear alkyl groups; X is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; Z is a carbanion or a sulfo anion; Q is an ester bond group, a phosphodiester bond group, an amido bond group, an alkylene group, or an phenylene group or a combination of these divalent groups; mis an integer of 1 to 200, and n is an integer of 1 to 10).

Light-degradable material, substrate, and method for patterning the substrate

A composition for controlled release of a physiologically active substance can release a physiologically active substance in vivo at the desired timing. The composition includes an inner layer that is formed of a biodegradable substance that supports a physiologically active substance, and an outer layer that is formed of a biodegradable substance that differs from that of the inner layer.

A method for manufacturing a cell culture substrate obtained by forming a coating layer of a polymer on the surface of a substrate, wherein the polymer is formed by polymerizing a monomer component containing a nitrogen atom-containing monomer represented by formula (I): wherein Ris hydrogen atom or methyl group, Ris an alkylene group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, each of Rand Ris independently an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Ris an alkylene group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and Y is oxygen atom or &#x2014;NH&#x2014; group, includes irradiating the polymer with ion beam at a predetermined position of the coating layer of the polymer, to remove the coating layer of the polymer irradiated with the ion beam.

Method for manufacturing cell culture substrate

A biocompatible material having excellent biocompatibility such as small interaction with a component of a living body such as a protein or blood cell. A biocompatible material comprising a polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer composition comprising an amino acid-type betaine monomer represented by the formula (I): wherein Ris a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; Ris an alkylene group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; each of Rand Ris independently an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Ris an alkylene group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and Z is an oxygen atom or an &#x2014;NH group; and a polymerizable monomer represented by the formula (II): wherein Ris as defined above; and Ris a monovalent organic group, in a weight ratio, i.e. amino acid-type betaine monomer/polymerizable monomer, of from 1/99 to 100/1. The biocompatible material can be suitably used, for example, in food, a food additive, a medicament, a quasi-drug, a medical device, cosmetics, a toiletry article, or the like.
