Disclosed is a method for assisting prediction of onset of cerebral infarction, based on the number of red blood cells contained in a blood sample collected from a subject, comprising the steps of: calculating an exponent value for the prediction from a first measured value indicating red blood cell count measured by electrical resistance measurement method and a second measured value indicating red blood cell count measured by optical measurement method,comparing the exponent value with a reference range, andsuggesting that the subject develops cerebral infarction when the exponent value is outside the reference range.

Reference patterns that are most closely approximate to the present data and the previous data are selected. A distance calculator calculates a distance between selected reference patterns. A determining unit determines whether a re-examination is necessary based on the distance.

Electrophoresis waveform data and a prediction equation for predicting the amount of a substance in an analyte or the presence of a disease in the living body from which the analyte was obtained are recorded. The prediction equation is a regression equation in which the explanatory variable is an absorbance value corresponding to a mobility in corrected waveform data generated as a result of electrophoresis waveform data on a plurality of analytes, and the criterion variable is the amount of the substance or the presence of a disease. The test value prediction method includes a step of generating corrected waveform data by performing normalization and area correction on the electrophoresis waveform data recorded in the recording unit, and a step of calculating a prediction value of the amount of the specific substance by substituting the absorbance value from the mobility, with an absorbance value from the corrected waveform data.

The object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus, a method, a program, and a self-organizing map which are capable of normalizing mobility without using a marker, as well as a substance detection method, a program, a detection rule creating method, and a data structure which use normalized mobility. The mobility normalizing method comprises the steps of determining a plurality of warping functions converting data to be corrected, which is unit time sequence data obtained by measuring mobility, to the respective plurality of reference waveform data sets, and a DTW distance associated with each warping function; evaluating a minimum value of the plurality of DTW distances, and determining the warping function associated with the determined minimum DTW distance; determining a slope and an intercept of a straight line approximating the determined warping function; and correcting the data to be corrected using a linear function specified by the slope and the intercept.

Respective components of a leukocyte particle size pattern that includes a plurality of cellular component fractions are separated by performing a mixture density approximation using an EM algorithm, and characteristic parameters of each fraction are clustered. A similarity search with attention paid to a distribution pattern of a cell group of interest is thereby executed. An algorithm capable of doing a highly accurate similarity search from general viewpoints such as a search for the respective cellular components of a leukocyte or a combination of the respective components is developed. In addition, information useful for a diagnosis is provided.
