Links are provided, each between one of the side frames of the seat cushion and the support member, and can be swung. A band extends at a substantially center part of the seat cushion and between the side frames, and is provided beneath the seat pad. One end of the band is secured to the top of one side frame, and the other end (free end) hangs over the top of the other side frame. The free end of the band further extends via the direction changing member provided on the side frame, first passing by a first relay point, i.e., the axle of the link provided on the side frame, and then passing by a second relay point, i.e., the axle of the link provided on the support member. At an emergency, the traction device pulls and stretches the band.

Vehicle seat

A motorized seat belt retractor having a load limiter to control the tensile load on a seat belt webbing, especially when the webbing is withdrawn due to an emergency condition. The load limiter controls the tension by controlling the condition of the motor that drives the retractor.

Motorized seat belt retractor

A seat belt retractor having a force limiter mechanism that can be stably operated when a pyrotechnic pretensioner is activated. As a pyrotechnic pretensioner is activated, a ring gear rotates in the counter-clockwise direction. Accordingly, an external tooth holding an end portion of a stopper is moved, whereby the end portion of the stopper becomes free. Therefore, the stopper expands because of its biasing force. Then, a release spring is released from the restriction of the stopper and thus pivots in the clockwise direction because of its biasing force. The release spring collides with a pin of the clutch pawl to press down the pin. Therefore, the clutch pawl is rotated about a clutch pawl pin in the clockwise direction, thereby canceling the mechanical connection between the motor and the spool.

Seat belt retractor

A method of protecting a passenger in a vehicle from a series of collisions. The method includes detecting that the vehicle is in danger of being involved in a first collision; winding up a webbing of a seat belt to restrain the passenger; permitting the passenger to move forward and the webbing to withdraw; winding up the webbing to restrain and return the passenger to a normal seated position; maintaining the passenger in a restrained condition; determining that the vehicle is in danger of being involved in a second collision; permitting the passenger to move forward and the webbing to withdraw; winding up the webbing to restrain the passenger and return the passenger to a normal seated position; maintaining the passenger in a restrained position; and releasing the restraint on the passenger.

A motor retractor system includes a first winding device having a motor for driving a shoulder belt in a winding direction, and a second winding device having a tension-applying device for always applying a tension in a winding direction to a lap belt extending from the shoulder belt through a through-tongue. A control unit controls the motor to drive when the through-tongue coupled to the buckle is released from the buckle. Therefore, the shoulder belt can be smoothly pulled out. When the through-tongue is buckled up, an occupant can be restrained by the seat belt with a comfortable force and no slack. When the through-tongue is released from the buckle, the seat belt can be promptly withdrawn to the first winding device.

Motor retractor system

In a seat belt retractor, when a collision predicting signal is generated from a collision predicting device, a motor rotates counterclockwise, and a pawl is thereby raised via a lever so as to move to a position contacting saw-blade teeth of a ratchet gear. In this state, when a rotational force is applied in the seatbelt-extraction direction, the rotation is prevented. On the other hand, the rotation in the seatbelt-retraction direction can be performed by pushing down the pawl with a diagonal portion of the saw-blade tooth of the ratchet gear.

Seatbelt retractor

A motorized seat belt retractor configured to be activated in response to a signal generated by a dangerous state detection device indicating that a vehicle is in a dangerous state. The retractor is configured so that in response to the signal the retractor operates to retract a seat belt webbing prior to a collision thereby restraining an occupant positioned in a seat in the vehicle. The retractor is activated every time a signal indicating that the vehicle is in a dangerous state is received from the detector.

A seatbelt retractor is capable of winding a seatbelt webbing on a spool driven by a spring and a motor. The seatbelt retractor includes a motor-power transmission device for controlling a motor-power transmission path to turn on and off transmission of motor power to the spool. The motor-power transmission device turns on only when the motor rotates in the belt winding direction to connect the motor-power transmission path and transmit the motor power to the spool. After a specific period of time since a buckle-releasing signal detecting release of a tongue from a buckle is received from a buckle switch, the motor control device rotates the motor in the belt winding direction. When a winding speed of the seatbelt webbing by the spring becomes less than a constant value, the motor-power transmission device is set to turn on so as to connect the motor-power transmission path.

In a seatbelt retractor having a motor, a belt winding spool, and a switching mechanism that turns on and off a power transmission route between the motor and the spool, the switching mechanism includes a device that connects the power transmission route between the motor and the spool only when the motor rotates in the retracting direction. A ratchet mechanism allows the spool to rotate only in the retraction direction during the emergency operation, while allowing the spool in any directions in the normal operation. The resultant locking mechanism can be rapidly operated upon occurrence of an emergency, while the seatbelt retractor will not cause uncomfortable feeling or unpleasantness due to unnecessary locking when an occupant tries to withdraw the seatbelt.

A seat belt retractor having a function of taking up a seat belt using a motor. A spool is fitted in a base frame such that a torsion bar functions as a shaft of the spool. Two gear-clutch casings are disposed on the left and right sides of the spool via a pretensioner and a locking mechanism, respectively, wherein two motors are disposed to the gear-clutch casings, respectively. The two motors achieve respective functions which are different from each other and rotate at respective constant speeds.

A seat belt retracting device having a motor for retracting a seat belt having a tongue adapted to engage a buckle. The device includes an electrical circuit for controlling operation of the motor with a one-chip integrated circuit (IC). The circuit includes a control output power circuit; a motor control power circuit; and a communication control power circuit. The motor is configured to operate for a first prescribed period of time to retract the seatbelt from the moment at which disengagement between the buckle and the tongue is detected.

Seat belt retracting device

A seat belt retractor including an energy absorbing mechanism which can reliably satisfy a requirement to absorb the energy flexibly is provided. When a first pulley is rotated clockwise by an extraction of a webbing in an emergency, a wire, which is connected to the first pulley at one end, is pulled. Thus, a second pulley, to which the other end of the wire is connected, is rotated clockwise around a second rotational shaft. The second rotational shaft is disposed at a position away from the center of the second pulley. Thus, the rotational diameter gradually increases and a torque applied by the wire for rotating the second pulley is gradually reduced. Since the second rotational shaft is connected to a torsion bar, a load applied to the torsion bar is reduced after reaching a limit load.

A seat belt retractor is formed of a reel for winding a seat belt, and a spring member connected to the reel for providing a retracting force thereto. The retracting force is weak not to provide a feeling of oppression to a passenger when the passenger has fastened the seat belt. A motor is connected to the reel for driving the reel only in a direction of retracting the seat belt to generate a retracting force greater than that of the spring member. Thus, the seat belt retractor retracts the seat belt by sufficiently great retracting force, but does not provide a feeling of oppression to the person when properly fastened.
