Ink jet printing paper capable of providing, by using a low permeablity or a nonpermeable supporting sheet, a high surface glossiness and a high dot reproducibility of a silver halide photograph level, an excellent absorptivity of ink, and a high recording density, and preventing cockling by ink solvent, comprising the low permeablity or the nonpermeable supporting sheet, at least one ink receiving layer coated on the supporting sheet, and a luster layer coated on the ink receiving layer, the ink receiving layer in contact with the luster layer comprising pigment, as a main component, having a specific surface area-based mode diameter of pore distribution of 100 nm or less and an average secondary particle size of 1.3 &#x3bc;m or less, and the luster layer comprising pigment, as a main component, having an average primary particle size of 5 to 100 nm.

Ink jet recording paper

An ink jet recording medium, capable of recording thereon ink images having excellent clarity and sharpness without blotting of ink images, includes an ink receiving layer formed on a support material and containing xerogel porous pigment particle, and has a such a specific feature that when a plurality of ink dots are formed each by successively jetting three coloring ink droplets different in color from each other and equal in droplet volume to each other toward a point of the ink receiving layer, to successively superpose the jetted three coloring ink droplets and to form a mixed colored dot in the point, the average size of the resultant dots is 125% or less based on an average dot size of ink dots each formed from two different coloring ink droplets.

Ink jet recording medium

An ink jet recording material appropriate to ink recording, preferably pigment ink recording, has an ink receiving layer formed on a support and including a pigment containing amorphous silica, alumina and/or alumino silicate, a binder, and a cationic resin having a cation equivalent of 1.5 to 6 milli equivalent/g, as determined by a colloid titration method.

Ink jet recording material and recording method

An ink jet recording material which includes a paper sheet substrate and an ink receiving layer containing a xerogel porous pigment and has excellent ink-absorption and reproducibility of ink images with high clarity and precision, exhibits a water-dipping expansion of 0.3% or less, determined by the same method as the JAPAN TAPPI No. 27-B method except that the length of the recording material immersed in water is measured 15 seconds after the start of the immersion.

Ink jet recording material

An ink-jet recording sheet, having an excellent ink absorption and capable of forming images with high color density and sharpness, includes a substrate and an ink-receiving layer, formed on the substrate, which includes a pigment, a self-emulsifying cationic resin including a water-insoluble acrylic copolymer having a cationic functional group and capable of being emulsified in water without assistance of an emulsifying agent, a water-soluble non-ionic polymeric material and a water-soluble cationic resin.

An ink jet recording material having excellent ink jet recording performance and offset printing performance has an ink receiving layer formed on a support and containing a cationic resin, the ink receiving layer surface exhibiting a 180 degree peel strength from an adhesive tape adhered to the ink receiving layer surface of 0.15 kN/m or more, determined in accordance with JIS k 6854, and an extract of the ink jet recording material with water at 20&deg; C. at a recording material/water weight ratio of 1:50, has a total solid weight of 1,000 mg or less per m,of the ink receiving layer surface area.

A cast coated paper for ink jet recording is constituted to include, in lamination: a base paper, an undercoating layer comprising a pigment and an adhesive, and a cast-coating layer comprising a polymer having a glass transition point of at least 40.degree. C. formed by polymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The cast coated paper is preferably controlled to have an air permeability of at most 300 sec/100 cc. The undercoating preferably contains a cationic resin, particularly preferably a copolymer of a polyalkylenepolyamine and dicyandiamide. The cast coated paper thus produced with an excellent ink absorptivity suitable for ink jet recording while retaining a high surface gloss.

A hot melt ink-thermal transfer recording material having a high speed hot melt ink-receiving property and a satisfactory offset printing applicability and being capable of recording clear images with a high durability and useful as a bar code-recording medium, includes an ink-receiving layer formed on a substrate and containing a polyurethane ionomer and a rosin component.

Hot melt ink-thermal transfer recording material

A thermal transfer receiving paper has an image-recieving layer receiving a thermal melting ink on a base paper containing pulp fibers as the main component. The image-receiving layer is formed by coating or impregnating a coating composition containing a synthetic polymer resin on one surface of the base paper. The synthetic polymer resin has a glass transition point of -60.degree. to -5.degree. C. and a surface tension of 38 to 55 dyne/cm. The pulp fibers constituting the base paper preferably containes at least one unbeaten pulp fiber in an amount of 50 to 100 weight % based on the total pulp fibers, which has a degree of water retention of not higher than 125% in accordance with J. TAPPI No.26, and satisfies the following equesions 1 and 2:
