Disclosed is a method for producing a medical instrument having a lubricating layer (a coating layer) exhibiting excellent durability (particularly, sliding durability). The method for producing a medical instrument is a method for producing a medical instrument having a base layer, and a lubricating layer that is carried on at least a part of the base layer. The method for producing a medical instrument also includes applying, to the base layer, a solution containing a block copolymer having a structural unit (A) derived from a reactive monomer having an epoxy group and a structural unit (B) derived from a hydrophilic monomer, an alkylammonium salt having 8 to 24 carbon atoms, and a solvent; and washing off the solution applied to the base layer.

Method for producing medical instrument

A medical device and a method of manufacturing the same which excels in lubricity under severe conditions are provided. The medical device according to the present disclosure is inserted into a living body. The medical device includes a resin coating layer that includes a maleic acid polymer substance and is provided on a surface of a base member. The resin coating layer is formed by covalently bonding the maleic acid polymer substance to a reactive functional group which exists on at least the surface of the base member of the medical device. A ratio of a peak height of carboxylate with respect to a total peak height of carboxylic acid ester and a carboxylic acid in the maleic acid polymer substance ranges from 1.2 to 1.7 when being measured through infrared spectroscopy (IR method).

A medical device includes a base layer, and a lubrication layer supported on at least a part of the base layer, wherein the lubrication layer contains a block copolymer (A) composed of a first constituting unit derived from a reactive monomer that has an epoxy group and a second constituting unit derived from at least one hydrophilic monomer selected from the group consisting of acrylamide and an acrylamide derivative, and a polymer (B) composed of a constituting unit derived from at least one hydrophilic monomer selected from the group consisting of acrylamide and an acrylamide derivative, wherein the block copolymer (A) is contained in a proportion of 20 to 80% by weight relative to the total weight of the block copolymer (A) and the polymer (B), and wherein the block copolymer (A) is crosslinked or polymerized to form a mesh structure.

A means for restraining hardening of silicone rubber is provided. In one form, a silicone rubber composition is provided that contains an antioxidant dispersed therein. In addition, a method for preparing the silicone rubber composition is provided that includes: a step of mixing a silicone rubber precursor and the antioxidant and curing the obtained mixture; or a step of wetting the silicone rubber with a liquid antioxidant. A method of manufacturing a medical device is also provided, including: a step of incorporating into a medical device the silicone rubber composition obtained in the preparation method outlined above; a step of seal packaging the obtained medical device; and a step of irradiating the seal-packaged medical device with radiation.

A balloon for catheter of the type that has a film body that is inflatable and deflatable using a fluid supplied from a catheter, the film body including a hard layer containing a polyamide and a flexible layer formed on the hard layer and containing a polyamide elastomer having a Shore D hardness that is not larger than 62, and the content of the amide units of the polyamide elastomer in the flexible layer is not less than 60 wt %.

Disclosed are a medical instrument and a medical material each comprising an aliphatic polyester resin composition, which are hardly reduced in strength and impact resistance upon the sterilization by ionizing radiation or have excellent shape-retaining properties after a heat treatment. Specifically, a medical instrument and a medical material both sterilized by ionizing radiation are provided, each of which contains a biodegradable resin and a polycarbodiimide compound in an amount of 0.1 to 10% by weight on the resin. The biodegradable resin is polybutylene succinate, a copolymer of polybutylene succinate, or a mixture of polybutylene succinate and a copolymer of polybutylene succinate with polylactic acid or poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate). A method of producing such medical instrument and medical material is also provided.

A medical needle is made of a synthetic resin which is reinforced, including the point part of the needle, to reduce deformation during puncture, even when the needle is produced by injection molding. The needle is made of a synthetic resin composition which includes synthetic resin and reinforcing fiber having a length of 80 &#x3bc;m or below and reinforcing fiber having a length exceeding 80 &#x3bc;m. The number ratio of the former fiber to the whole fiber component is 40% to 90%. A synthetic resin composition for needles includes a synthetic resin and a reinforcing fiber component, wherein the composition is prepared by adding at least two kinds of fibers, namely a fiber having a mean length of 1 mm to 10 mm and a fiber having a mean length of 10 &#x3bc;m to 100 &#x3bc;m to the synthetic resin and kneading the obtained mixture.
