A damper apparatus includes a piston having a flange-shaped piston main body and piston rods which project from both ends of the piston main body, a cylinder having a cylinder main body which accommodates the piston main body slidably and cylindrical portions which support slidably the piston rods, respectively, a fastener which is attached to the one cylindrical portion so as to secure the cylinder to an opening/closing member, and a coil spring which biases the one piston rod to project from the other cylindrical portion such that a distal end portion of the piston rod abuts a circumferential edge of an opening portion of a vehicle.

A vehicle body lateral section contains an upper stiffener, which extends upward from a rear wheel housing and overlaps a bottom end of a pillar inner. The upper stiffener is provided with an extension that continues to the pillar inner. The vehicle body lateral section has: a first closed-cross-section section formed from the rear wheel housing and the upper stiffener; and a second closed-cross-section section formed from the pillar inner and a pillar stiffener.

Vehicle body lateral structure

A vehicle body rear structure includes a left and right rear-side frame and a rear panel assembly. The left and right rear-side frames extend in the front-back direction of the vehicle body. The rear panel assembly forms a closed-cross-section section extending in the direction of vehicle width intersecting the rear-side frames, is provided to the back end of the rear-side frames, and configures the bottom of a vehicle body rear opening. The rear panel assembly is provided with a bulkhead that is disposed in the closed-cross-section section at the upper surface of the rear-side frames, and that partitions the interior of the closed-cross-section section with surfaces oriented in the direction of vehicle width.

Vehicle body rear structure

In an automotive floor panel assembly comprising a floor panel () stamp-formed of sheet metal and including a recess () defining an upper concave surface and a lower convex surface, a compound longitudinal floor frame is formed by a lower reinforcement () extending longitudinally across a part of the lower convex surface of the floor panel and an upper reinforcement () extending longitudinally across a part of the upper concave surface of the floor panel. The lower and upper reinforcements include a first vertical wall having an upper edge closely following a contour of the lower convex surface a second vertical wall having a lower edge closely following a contour of the supper concave surface, respectively. The compound longitudinal floor frame is thus provided with a substantially constant cross section and extends substantially linearly over the entire length of the floor panel and hereby. Therefore, the height of a lowest part of the floor panel from the ground surface is prevented from being reduced, and the mechanical strength of the floor panel would not be compromised even when the floor pane is provided with a downward projection.
