A water-absorbent resin composition suffering exfoliation of additives from a water-absorbent resin only insignificantly and excelling in fluidity of powder after absorption of moisture and in deodorizing property and absorbent property as well is provided. The water-absorbent resin composition of this invention comprises a water-absorbent resin obtainable by polymerizing an unsaturated monomer having an acid group and/or a salt thereof; and complex oxide hydrate containing zinc and silicon, or zinc and aluminum, wherein the complex oxide hydrate contains zinc as main metal component, the mass ratio of the content of zinc and the content of silicon or aluminum is in the range of 50/50-99/1, and the absorption capacity at 60 minutes toward 0.90 mass % sodium chloride aqueous solution under the pressure of 1.9 kPa is not less than 20 g/g. Optionally, a plant component (C) can be added to the water absorbent resin composition.

Water-absorbent resin composition and method for producing thereof, and absorbent material and absorbent product using thereof

A particulate water absorbing agent of the present invention is a water absorbing agent containing a water absorbing resin as a main component, the particulate water absorbing agent containing a polyvalent metal cation and satisfying: (1) the polyvalent metal cation is contained in an amount between 0.001 wt % and 5 wt % relative to the amount of the water absorbing agent; (2) an absorbency without pressure (CRC) is not less than 28 (g/g) and an absorbency against pressure (AAP 4.83 kPa) is not less than 10 (g/g); (3) the absorbency against pressure and the absorbency without pressure satisfy 77 &#x2266;AAP (4.83 kPa)+1.8&#xd7;CRC&#x2266;100; and (4) a moisture content of the water absorbing agent is between 5 wt % and 20 wt %. This provides a water absorbing agent which has blocking resistance after moisture absorption, is excellent in stability to shock and suppresses Re-Wet when used in a diaper.

Particulate water absorbent and process for production thereof

A water absorbing agent of the present invention has an internal crosslinking structure obtained by polymerization of a water-soluble unsaturated monomer. The agent satisfies conditions (a) to (d): (a) the agent contains water-insoluble inorganic particles at an amount of from 10 ppm to 1,900 ppm inclusive; (b) the agent contains 5 mass % or less particles which have such a size that they can pass through a sieve having a mesh opening size of 150 &#x3bc;m; (c) the agent has an absorbency against a pressure of 4.83 kPa (AAP) of 18 g/g or more; and (d) the water-insoluble inorganic particles reside on a surface of the water absorbing resin or near the surface.

A particulate water absorbing agent of the present invention is a water absorbing agent containing a water absorbing resin as a main component, the particulate water absorbing agent containing a polyvalent metal cation and satisfying: (1) the polyvalent metal cation is contained in an amount between 0.001 wt % and 5 wt % relative to the amount of the water absorbing agent; (2) an absorbency without pressure (CRC) is not less than 28 (g/g) and an absorbency against pressure (AAP 4.83 kPa) is not less than 10 (g/g); (3) the absorbency against pressure and the absorbency without pressure satisfy 77&#x2266;AAP (4.83 kPa)+1.8&#xd7;CRC&#x2266;100; and (4) a moisture content of the water absorbing agent is between 5 wt % and 20 wt %. A homogeneously surface cross-linked water absorbent resin and a method for the production thereof are provided. The water absorbent material is formed of a surface cross-linked water absorbent resin resulting from granular irregularly pulverized shaped surface cross-linking the product of partial neutralization or whole neutralization of a water absorbent resin having acrylic acid or a metal salt thereof as a main component, which water absorbent material shows a metal atom concentration on the surface of the water absorbent material in the range of 0-10% within 0 second of polishing and 2-35% at 10 seconds value of polishing as determined by subjecting the water absorbent material to Ar ion discharge polishing under a voltage of 500 &#x212b;. The surface cross-linked water absorbent resin to be used herein can be produced by surface cross-linking a water absorbent resin having a specific particle diameter with a surface cross-linking agent having a water concentration in a specific range.

Water absorbent material, method for production of surface cross-linked water absorbent resin, and method for evaluation of water absorbent material

A water-absorbent composition includes: a specific plant extract; a water-absorbent resin whose surface portion and/or periphery thereof is treated; and/or a water-absorbent resin having a specific property. Specifically, it is preferable to use a water-absorbent resin having three characteristics: (1) a specific neutralization rate, (2) a specific particle diameter, and (3) a specific plant extract. The water-absorbent composition has a superior deodorant performance and an absorbent characteristic when the water-absorbent composition is used (provided) in an absorbing product such as a paper diaper, thereby providing a superior deodorant performance and a superior absorbent characteristic to the foregoing absorbing product.

The present invention has an object to provide a particulate water-absorbing composition, a production process therefor, and an absorbent article comprising this particulate water-absorbing composition, wherein the particulate water-absorbing composition causes little coloring of other materials and further is of high safety, and can provide excellent deodorizability and excellent absorption properties to absorbent articles such as diapers in the case where combined into the absorbent articles. As a means of achieving this object, a particulate water-absorbing composition according to the present invention is characterized by comprising a plant powder and a water-absorbent resin, wherein a surface portion and/or its vicinity of the water-absorbent resin is surface-treated with a crosslinking agent, and wherein the particulate water-absorbing composition exhibits an offensive-odor removal index of not less than 180 wherein the offensive-odor removal index is represented by the following equation: offensive-odor removal index=1.1&#xd7;hydrogen sulfide removal ratio+2.0&#xd7;methylmercaptan removal ratio+0.3&#xd7;ammonia removal ratio.

Water-absorbing agent composition and method for production thereof, absorptive article and absorbing material

In at least one embodiment, a particulate water-absorbing agent is provided which not only ensures the many conventional physical properties (absorption rate, centrifuge retention capacity, absorbency against pressure, particle size distribution etc.) but also prevents odor which is generated after the resin is swollen by absorption. The water absorbent agent of an embodiment of the present invention therefore does not cause odor in actual use. As a result of intensive study of the foregoing problem, an embodiment of the present invention offers a way of controlling a specific odor component, which is generated from impurities and/or by-product derived from the raw material, after the high temperature process. In this way, an embodiment of the present invention successfully provides a water absorbent agent not causing odor after the resin is swollen by absorption.

The present invention provides a particulate water absorbing agent for a thin type absorbing substrate suitable for actual use. A particulate water absorbing agent having irregularly pulverized shape, characterized by comprising, a surface crosslinked water-absorbing resin obtained by crosslinking polymerization of an unsaturated monomer with an acid group and/or salts thereof, which absorbing agent contains agglomerated particles therein and further satisfies (i) centrifuge retention capacity (CRC) in a physiological saline solution of not lower than 32 g/g, (ii) mass median particle size (D50) of 200 to 400 &#x3bc;m, and (iii) particles smaller than 600 &#x3bc;m and not smaller than 150 &#x3bc;m of 95 to 100% by weight. By using the particulate water absorbing agent, such absorbing articles can be obtained as have few rugged surface after water absorption, excellent liquid permeation property.

The water-absorbing agents are obtained by a process including the step of adding to a water-absorbent resin at least one chelating agent selected from the group consisting of polycarboxylic amines and maleic hydrophilic polymers.
