To provide a light-emitting element having high luminous efficiency and to provide a light-emitting device and an electronic device which consumes low power and is driven at low voltage, a carbazole derivative represented by the general formula (1) is provided. In the formula, α, α, α, and αeach represent an arylene group having less than or equal to 13 carbon atoms; Arand Areach represent an aryl group having less than or equal to 13 carbon atoms; Rrepresents any of a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, and a substituted or unsubstituted biphenyl group; and Rrepresents any of an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, and a substituted or unsubstituted biphenyl group. In addition, l, n, and n are each independently 0 or 1.

An organic electroluminescent device having an anode, a cathode, and a light-emitting layer between the anode and the cathode, wherein the light-emitting layer contains at least a first organic compound, a second organic compound and a third organic compound satisfying the following formula (A), the second organic compound is a delayed fluorescent material, and the third organic compound is a light-emitting material, has a high light emission efficiency. Formula (A): E(A)>E(B)>E(C) wherein E(A), E(B) and E(C) each represent a lowest excited singlet energy level of the first organic compound, the second organic compound and the third organic compound, respectively.

A compound having a structure represented by the following general formula emits delayed fluorescent light and is useful as a light-emitting material. Three or more of R, R, R, and Reach represent a 9-carbazolyl group, a 10-phenoxazyl group, or a 10-phenothiazyl group, and the balance thereof and Reach represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent, but exclude a cyano group. It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel triazole derivative. Further, it is another object of the present invention to provide a light-emitting element having high luminous efficiency with the use of the novel triazole derivative. A light-emitting element having high luminous efficiency can be manufactured with the use of a triazole derivative which is a 1,2,4-triazole derivative, in which an aryl group or a heteroaryl group is bonded to each of 3-position, 4-position, and 5-position, and in which any one of the aryl group or heteroaryl group has a 9H-carbazol-9-yl group.

A compound having a structure represented by the following general formula emits delayed fluorescent light, and is useful as a light-emitting material. One or more of R, R, R, R, and Rrepresent a 9-carbazolyl group having a substituent at at least one of 1-position and 8-position, or a 10-phenoxazyl group or 10-phenothiazyl group having a substituent at at least one of 1-position and 9-position. The balance thereof represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent. 

A compound represented by A-D-A is useful as a light. emitting material used in an organic electroluminescent device and others.

An organic light-emitting device having a light-emitting layer containing a compound represented by the general formula below has a high light emission efficiency. In the general formula, at least one of Rto Rrepresents a cyano group, at least one of Rto Rrepresents a 9-carbazolyl group, a 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-9-carbazolyl group, a 1-indolyl group or a diarylamino group, and the balance of Rto Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a substituent. 

Organic light-emitting device, and light-emitting material and compound used therefor

Disclosed is a novel organic semiconductor material which has a twisted quaterphenylene skeleton as a central unit and simultaneously possesses a skeleton having an electron-transporting property and a skeleton having a hole-transporting property at the terminals of the quaterphenylene skeleton. Specifically, the organic semiconductor material has a [1,1':2&#x2032;,1&#x2033;:2&#x2033;,1&#x2032;&#x2033;]quaterphenyl-4-4&#x2032;&#x2033;-diyl group, and one of the terminals of the [1,1&#x2032;:2&#x2032;,1&#x2033;:2&#x2033;,1&#x2032;&#x2033;]quaterphenyl-4-4&#x2032;&#x2033;-diyl group is bonded to a skeleton having an electron-transporting property such as a benzoxazole group or an oxadiazole group. A skeleton having a hole-transporting property such as diarylamino group is introduced at the other terminal. This structure allows the formation of a compound having a bipolar property, a high molecular weight, an excellent thermal stability, a large band gap, and high triplet excitation energy.

An organic light-emitting device containing a compound having a lone electron pair and a &#x3c0; electron orbital, the compound emitting fluorescent light by such a mechanism that when at least a part of electrons constituting the lone electron pair is excited to an excited triplet staten&#x3c0;* through n&#x3c0;* transition, the part of electrons undergoes inverse intersystem crossing from the excited triplet staten&#x3c0;* to an excited singlet staten&#x3c0;*, and returns from the excited singlet staten&#x3c0;* to the ground state, at which the fluorescent light is emitted. The organic light-emitting device has a high light emission efficiency.
