A disc cartridge is comprised of a cartridge body for rotatably accommodating therein a disc and which has an opening portion from which the disc is partially exposed to the outside, and a shutter slidably attached to the cartridge body for opening and/or closing the opening portion, wherein the shutter is provided with first and second guide members, the first guide member is engaged with a first guide groove formed on a major surface of the cartridge body and the second guide member is engaged with a second guide groove formed on a side wall of the cartridge body. Thus, the shutter can be prevented from being disengaged from the cartridge body inadvertently or unintentionally. Further, in its opening and/or closing operation, the shutter can smoothly open and/or close the opening portion without being shaked.

A disk drive arrangement has a first disk drive such as a CD-ROM drive mounted below a second disk drive such a hard disk drive. The two drives share a single front panel which mounts controls and indicators related to both drives and may also include a disk access opening for at least one of the drives. The upper and lower drives may be secured by left and right side brackets to enhance mounting stability and facilitate easy installation in an electronic component.

A disk cartridge includes a main body of the cartridge having an opening or its major surface by which the signal recording surface of an optical disk accommodated in the main body is exposed to outside and an aperture formed on the lateral surface orthogonal to the major surface of the main body for enabling the optical disk to be inserted into and taken out of the cartridge for disk exchange. The disk cartridge also an opening/closing member which is rotatably supported by the main body by pivot pins provided at its one end for engaging in recesses in the aperture in the main body, for opening and closing the aperture and, which is provided at its other end with a resilient arm having a retaining end pawl engageable with a mating retaining section in the main body. By actuation of the opening/closing member, the aperture in the main body is opened or closed to permit exchange of the optical disk.

A disk cartridge includes a main body of the cartridge having an opening on its major surface by which the signal recording surface of an optical disk accommodated in the main body is exposed to the outside and an aperture formed on the lateral surface orthogonal to the major surface of the main body for enabling the optical disk to be inserted into and taken out of the cartridge for disk exchange. The disk cartridge also has an opening/closing member (21) which is rotatably supported by the main body by pivot pins (28) provided at its one end for engaging in recesses in the aperture in the main body, for opening and closing the aperture and, which is provided at its other end with a resilient arm (34) having a retaining end pawl engageable with a mating retaining section in the main body. By actuation of the opening/closing member, the aperture in the main body is opened or closed to permit exchange of the optical disk.

Disk cartridge

A data storage case having a write/protect assembly includes a main body of the cartridge, a plurality of detection holes formed in the lateral side and on two flat sides of the main body of the cartridge adjacent a corner of the front side of the main body of the cartridge relative to the direction of insertion of the main body of the cartridge into the interior of the recording/reproducing apparatus, and mating detection elements inserted into these detection holes. The main body of the cartridge accommodates a disk-shaped recording medium, on which information signals can be recorded, and has apertures through which the signal recording section of the disk-shaped recording medium is exposed to outside. The mating detection elements may be moved between a first position and a second position within the detection holes.

Optical disc cartridge

An ejecting mechanism for disk cartridges comprises an operating lever for moving a cartridge holder between a raised position where a disk cartridge is inserted in and ejected from the cartridge holder, and a lowered position where a disk within the inserted disk cartridge is mounted on and demounted from a turntable. A releasing lever is provided for unlocking the disk cartridge which has been locked by a locking lever, wherein when the cartridge holder with the disk cartridge is in its lowered position, the operating lever is pushed through a panel located in front of the ejecting mechanism to raise the cartridge holder. Just before the cartridge holder reaches its raised position, the releasing lever is driven to unlock the disk cartridge.

A recording/reproducing apparatus including a disk cassette rotatably accommodating a disk-like recording medium and having positioning holes at least on its one side, a holder holding the disk cassette and vertically movable to cause the disk cassette to take selectively a first position in which the medium is attached to a rotational disk drive unit or a second position spaced above the first position, a shifting unit for shifting the holder between the first position and the second position, and a locking unit for engaging with the positioning holes in the disk cassette when said holder is in the first position for positioning the disk cassette, is disclosed. According to the invention, the apparatus further includes a locking unit provided for rotation along the thickness of the disk cassette. The locking unit is rotated approximately simultaneously with termination of insertion of the disk cassette into the holder for retaining the vicinity of the positioning holes of the disk cassette for locking the disk cassette relative to the holder.

Recording/reproducing apparatus for a disk cassette

In an apparatus in which a magnetic tape extending between supply and take-up reels is guided in a helical path about at least a portion of the periphery of a guide drum having one or more rotary magnetic heads associated therewith, and the tape is longitudinally driven, during recording and normal reproducing operations, by a capstan and a pinch roller pressed against the capstan with the tape therebetween, so that video signals are recorded and normally reproduced by the rotary heads in parallel record tracks extending obliquely across the tape at an angle determined by the helical path of the tape on the guide drum, the rotational speed of the heads and the speed of longitudinal movement of the tape by the capstan, and in which, for still motion reproducing operation, the pinch roller is moved away from the capstan to halt the driving of the tape thereby and permit the heads to repeatedly reproduce the signals recorded in one of the oblique tracks while scanning along a line that is at an angle to such track so that guard band noises appear in the reproduced signals; a manually actuable device is provided for conveniently shifting the longitudinal position of the tape relative to the circular path of the rotary magnetic heads during such still motion reproducing operation so as to make such guard band noises as inconspicuous as possible when the reproduced signals are displayed as a still motion video picture. Such manually actuable device includes an arm pivoted about the axis of rotation of the support member for the supply reel and being angularly displaceable in opposed directions, and a drive member mounted on the arm for wedge-like engagement with a cylindrical surface on the supply reel support member when the arm is displaced in one direction and for sliding relative to such surface when the arm is displaced in the opposite direction. Further, the drive member is securely held out of engagement with the supply reel support member during fast forward and rewind operations of the apparatus.
