Air bag device

An air-bag module mounting structure where a fixing partof a hubof a steering wheel is fastened to a fastened partof a horn plateto which an air-bag module is fixed. Air-bag module mounting structure

A seat belt device including an anchor connecting member configured to be connected to the vehicle body, a webbing connecting member connected to the seat belt, and a webbing passing through an opening the webbing connecting member. The webbing located in the opening is folded and constrained from unfolding by stitching extending in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the webbing. The device includes a sensor mechanism that detects a force acting between the anchor connecting member and the webbing connecting member.

Seat belt device

A webbing of a seat belt engages an opening of a seat belt tension sensor. In one embodiment, the webbing is bunched or folded so as to prevent rubbing against the sides of the opening in the housing and anchor plate, or an outer surface of the seat belt tension sensor. The webbing is maintained in a bunched or folded state using either a set of stitches between the two portions of the webbing of the loop; separate sets of stitches in the respective separate portions; a ring enclosing the two portions; separate rings, or ring portions separated by a spacer, enclosing the respective separate portions; or a sleeve, thimble, or thimble portion of the carriage of the seat belt tension sensor engaging the bunched or folded webbing. In another embodiment, the openings in the housing and anchor plate are sufficiently wider than the opening in the carriage, and the carriage incorporates a flange.

A seat belt retractor with a ball type pretensioner including a pipe in which the balls are retained. A front end portion of the pipe is securely retained so that reliable operation of the pretensioner is provided. The pipe does includes a cut-out that does not extend to the front-most end of a pipe. A guide block is fitted in the front-most end of the pipe. The pipe and the guide block are fixed to the plate together by a fastener. The portion where the guide block is fitted to the pipe can provide high rigidity and is thus hardly deformed in every directions. The fastener may be hardened or the material for the fastener may be selected to obtain sufficient strength.

Seat belt retractor

A seat belt retractor has a pretensioner, which has a cover with integral projections made of aluminum. A pretensioner gear with complementary holes is attached to the cover, with the projections inserted into the holes to immobilize the pretensioner gear. A spool driving gear for driving a spool of the retractor is spaced and disengaged from the pretensioner gear so that the pretensioner gear does not interfere with normal operation of the spool. To tension the seat belt, the pretensioner gear is driven to break the projections to mobilize the pretensioner gear, engage the pretensioner gear with the spool driving gear, and drive the spool driving gear, which rotates the spool and tension the seat belt.

Seatbelt retractor

A seat belt spooling device having a ball type pretensioner. The pretensioner includes a case and a ball-receiving member formed integrally with each other. The ball receiving member includes a guide formed integrally with the ball-receiving member. The guide is positioned to guide balls entering into the ball-receiving member from the case, thereby reducing the number of components and the assembling cost.

Seat belt spooling device

To provide a pretensioner with further improved safety of the device, wherein gas is appropriately allowed to escape in the event that the gas pressure within the pipe rises excessively. A pretensioner is attached to the outer side of the frame of a seatbelt retractor. A pressure container is connected to the base portion of a pipe of the pretensioner. A gas generator is stored within this pressure container. Multiple balls are provided within the pipe. A hole is opened in the side wall of the pipe at the portion positioned between the gas generator and ball. A rivet or other device is driven into this hole. The rivet breaks in the event that internal pressure exceeding a certain pressure (i.e., abnormal pressure) is applied to the pipe, and falls loose from the hole. Alternative embodiments of gas escape mechanisms are provided.

Pretensioner with gas escape mechanism

To provide a pretensioner with improved safety, wherein gas is allowed to escape appropriately in the event that the internal gas pressure rises excessively, and there are no adverse effects on other equipment. A pretensioner is provided with a pipe and multiple balls are provided within the pipe. The balls are metal spheres such as aluminum and the ball nearest the gas generator is formed of a suitable material such as a resin of silicone rubber. A hole is bored in the resin ball in the longitudinal direction of the pipe. The hole is plugged off at the side of the gas generator and is opened on the side of the ball. A through hole perforating the next ball to the resin ball is bored in the longitudinal direction. A rod-shaped piston is stored between the hole of the resin ball and the hole of the next ball. When abnormal pressure is generated, the resin ball breaks and the gas pressure is placed directly on the piston. The abnormal pressure is thereby provided a pathway to dissipate in the direction of the balls'movement.
