A cleaning device for a rotational body is provided. The cleaning device includes a scraping portion whose edge is pressed against a rotational body to which toner adheres. The scraping portion scrapes the toner off the rotational body. The cleaning device also includes a guide portion that guides a recording medium toward the rotational body, and a guide support portion that supports the guide portion. The guide support portion is disposed at a position separated from the scraping portion in a state in which the guide support portion is pressed by the guide portion that is guiding the recording medium.

An image forming apparatus includes a developer recovery container having a rotatable member; an attachment structural section to which the container is detachably attached; and a rotation transmission mechanism disposed in the attachment structural section and connected to the rotatable member to transmit rotational driving force thereto when the container is attached. The mechanism includes a shaft extending in a direction of movement occurring when the container is attached and detached, a rotationally-driven stationary transmission member, a displacement transmission member attached to the shaft and rotationally shifting in an axial direction thereof in conjunction with the movement, and a moving member moving the displacement member toward the stationary member. The displacement member connects to and disconnects from the stationary member when the container is attached and detached, respectively. The container has a stopper that moves the moving member toward the stationary member when the container is attached.

An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable image carrier, a detachable transfer body on which an image is transferred, a contact and separation mechanism that moves the transfer body into contact with and away from the image carrier, and a coupling member to be coupled to the contact and separation mechanism. When the coupling member is turned forward to a first turn position in a coupled state coupled to the contact and separation mechanism, the contact and separation mechanism contacts the transfer body with the image carrier, and when the coupling member is turned in reverse from the first turn position to a second turn position in the coupled state, the contact and separation mechanism separates the transfer body from the image carrier and the coupling member withdraws in a direction opposite a direction to couple the coupling member to the contact and separation mechanism.

A transfer device includes an endless member caused to circulate by a driving unit, plural transfer members coming in contact with a rear surface of the endless member and transferring toner images on image holding members to the endless member, a support member movably supporting a specific transfer member of the transfer members located at a position which is more upstream in a circulation direction of the endless member than a contact position where a recording medium comes in contact with the endless member and which is closest to the contact position, a regulation member regulating the movement of the specific transfer member in a state where the specific transfer member is disposed at a position where the toner image formed on the corresponding image holding member is transferred to the endless member, and a first impelling member impelling the support member to the regulation member.

An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes an endless belt that travels circularly by a drive member and has an outer peripheral surface on which an image is formed; a tension applying member around which the endless belt is trained and that applies tension to the endless belt by pressing an inner peripheral surface of the endless belt; a detection member that detects the image formed on the outer peripheral surface of the endless belt; a support member to which the detection member is attached and that movably supports the detection member with respect to an apparatus main body; and a positioning member that positions the detection member with respect to the outer peripheral surface of the endless belt at a portion pressed by the tension applying member.

The present invention provides an image forming device, which facilitates maintenance and replacement of an intermediate transfer body and an image carrier, and prevents a deterioration in image quality which accompanies the formation of the intermediate transfer body and the image carrier as separate structures, having an image carrier on which a toner image is formed, and an intermediate transfer body conveying the toner image, which is formed on the image carrier, to a transfer medium, the image forming device including a supporting frame in which the intermediate transfer body is mounted, a suspension portion suspending the image carrier at the supporting frame to face the image carrier to the intermediate transfer body, and an attaching/removing portion at which the supporting frame is installed, and which is for attaching and removing the supporting frame to and from a device main body of the image forming device.
