A propulsion device for a marine vessel includes an engine and a forward/reverse shifting mechanism. The direction of a propulsive force generated by the propulsion device is changed according to a shift position of the forward/reverse shifting mechanism. The shift position is changeable between a forward position and a reverse position via a neutral position. In response to a command signal based on an operation of a joystick or an operator, the shift position of the forward/reverse shifting mechanism and the engine are controlled. When the shift position of the forward/reverse shifting mechanism is changed from the neutral position to a position corresponding to a direction opposite to a travelling direction of the marine vessel, which is determined based on the speed of the marine vessel, a correction control is performed to increase an output of the engine based on the speed of the marine vessel.

A fuel injection controller for a vessel engine to drive a propulsion apparatus mounted in a vessel is configured or programmed to execute functions of an effective opening area calculator to calculate an effective opening area of a throttle valve based on a throttle opening degree of the vessel engine, a filter value calculator to determine a first-order lag filter value of the effective opening area, a correction value calculator to determine a ratio of the effective opening area to the first-order lag filter value as a correction value, a predictive suction pressure calculator to determine predictive suction pressure by multiplying an average value of suction pressure detected at a suction passage by the correction value determined by the correction value calculator, a fuel injection amount calculator to calculate a fuel injection amount based on the predictive suction pressure, and a fuel injection driver to drive a fuel injector based on the fuel injection amount.

An outboard motor includes an engine, a fuel tank, a fuel pathway, a fuel pump, and a controller. The engine includes a fuel injector. The fuel tank includes an internal space in which fuel is stored. The fuel pathway is connected to the fuel injector and the fuel tank. The fuel pump is disposed in the fuel pathway, and supplies the fuel from the fuel tank to the fuel injector. The controller controls the fuel pump. The controller determines whether or not a start condition, indicating that air has entered the fuel pathway, is satisfied. The controller is configured or programmed to execute an air releasing control to open the fuel injector and drive the fuel pump when the start condition is satisfied.

Outboard motor

A controller controls a tilt-trim device under an automatic control mode such that the tilt-trim device automatically causes an outboard motor to continuously perform a tilt-trim motion within a motion range set in advance when an operation has been performed the plurality of times within the predetermined period of time. The controller deactivates the tilt-trim device when the outboard motor reaches either an upper limit or a lower limit of the motion range. The controller changes the motion range in accordance with a setting signal for setting the motion range when receiving the setting signal.
