A wet friction disk that can achieve a further reduction in the drag torque, which includes a ring-shaped core plate having a wave shape in a circumferential direction thereof, a friction member disposed on a principal surface of the core plate so as to being substantially shaped into a ring with a plurality of oil grooves, and the oil grooves each have a shape with a groove width that is narrowed from an inner circumference side toward an outer circumference side of the core plate.

Wet friction disk

In a wet friction material, a plurality of segment pieces is disposed at both sides of inter-segment grooves. The segment pieces are composed of first segment pieces and second segment pieces. The first segment piece has at least two inner peripheral recesses formed on an inner periphery thereof and at least two outer peripheral recesses formed on an outer periphery thereof. The outer periphery of the first segment piece has a short dimension. The second segment piece has at least two inner peripheral recesses formed on an inner periphery thereof and at least two outer peripheral recesses formed on an outer periphery thereof. The outer periphery of the second segment piece has a long dimension.

Wet friction material

Provided is a wet friction material that includes a ring shaped flat metal core and a plurality of segment-type friction material substrates joined onto one or both of surfaces of the ring shaped flat metal core with an adhesive and spaced apart along an entire circumference of the ring shaped flat metal core to form a plurality of oil grooves extending in a radial direction of the core metal by a clearance between adjacent ones of the above segment pieces. One or both of outer peripheral corner portions of each of the plurality of segment-type friction material substrates is chamfered to form a chamfered part such that a width of the oil grooves adjacent the chamfered part of the corner portions is larger than a width of a thinnest portion of the above plurality of the oil grooves.

In a wet-type friction material, a ring-shaped friction material substrate is compressed and fixed on a surface of a core metal by heat-pressing by a manufacturing metal mold. At the same time, a taper of an angle &#x3b1; corresponding to a taper at an outer peripheral side of an upper mold is provided on an outer peripheral side of the ring-shaped friction material substrate. Thus, the taper is formed such that a thickness in a radial direction of the ring-shaped friction material substrate becomes smaller from a middle point toward an outer peripheral edge.

Wet-type friction material and its manufacturing method

A wet friction material and its manufacturing method are provided. The wet friction material has a substrate having a surface and a very superficial layer. The very superficial layer is provided on the surface of the substrate and contains resin and fibers. The resin and the fibers are heated by one of a laser beam, a heating plate and a heating roller so as to thermally change the very superficial layer in a short period of time. Such manufacturing method is capable of evenly carbonizing the resin and the fibers of the very superficial layer of a friction surface of the wet friction material so as to flexibly deal with a variety of size of products.
