A method of manufacturing a magnetoresistance element that can accurately sort out truely defective products from apparently defective products due to the manufacturing processes. Manufacturing processes for MR elements includes a MR element formation process, a magnetic field application process and an electric inspection process. In the magnetic field process, the magnetic field application is limited to a range within 75.degree. to the longitudinal direction of a MR element pattern. By performing the magnetic field application process before the electric inspection process, the anisotropic magnetic field due to a shape magnetic anisotropy of the MR element can be aligned almost in a fixed direction, defective products due to the manufacturing processes can exactly be sorted out from the apparently defective products in the electric inspection process, so that the yield rate can be improved.

An air cleaner using an ionic wind having discharge electrodes, a counter electrode arranged downstream of the discharge electrodes, and first and second parallel plate electrodes arranged alternately downstream of the counter electrode. The second parallel plate electrodes are connected to a potential pick-up electrode arranged in the vicinity of the discharge electrodes. The first and second parallel plate electrodes which are arranged alternately serve as dust collecting electrodes.

Air cleaner using ionic wind

An air cleaning apparatus having an electrical dust collecting section has discharge electrodes, electrical field forming electrodes arranged parallel to the flow of charged particles, and dust collecting electrodes each of which is arranged between corresponding two adjacent electrical field forming electrodes to be parallel thereto. One high voltage power source is arranged to generate a potential difference between the discharge electrodes and the dust collecting electrodes. Another high voltage power source is arranged to generate a potential difference between the electrical field forming electrodes and the dust collecting electrodes. Negative electrodes consisting of either the electrical field forming electrodes or the dust collecting electrodes are covered by insulator members.

Air cleaning apparatus

An air cleaner has a discharge electrode member, an intermediate electrode member, and a counter electrode member disposed opposed and spaced apart from each other. A voltage source is connected between the discharge member and the intermediate member for generating ionic wind. A further voltage source is connected between the intermediate member and the counter member for accelerating the ionic wind such that the gradient direction of the electric field between the discharge member and the intermediate member is identical to that between the intermediate member and the counter member.

A heating system for automobiles utilizing the hot water from the engine cooling system as a heat source includes a heating radiator and a heat accumulating water tank, and pipe lines are provided between the engine cooling system, heating radiator and heat accumulating water tank. The flow passages of the cooling water through the pipe lines are switched by electromagnetic valves provided in the pipe lines so that the heating radiator and the heat accumulating water tank are connected in series or in parallel with each other with respect to the engine cooling system, or a circulating passage is formed between the heating radiator and the heat accumulating water tank. The heat accumulating water tank has a mixing preventing device to prevent cold cooling water flowing into the water tank from mixing with hot water contained in the water tank.

A ventilating device for an automotive vehicle mounted in a rear portion of the vehicle comprises an atmospheric air passageway for introducing atmospheric air from the outside of the vehicle into a vehicle compartment, and an internal air passageway provided in a manner to cross the atmospheric air passageway for leading the air in the rear portion of the vehicle compartment to the outside of the vehicle. The atmospheric air passageway is arranged to cause the atmospheric air to be blown from the rear to the front of the vehicle compartment, so as to improve ventilation performance in the rear portion of the compartment. Further, a total heat exchanger is mounted at the crossing portion of the two passageways for effecting exchange of both sensible heat and latent heat between the atmospheric air flowing through the atmospheric air passageway and the air flowing through the internal air passageway.

Ventilating device for automotive vehicle

A windshield wiper device including a blade rubber, a backing holding the blade rubber in place, a support metal fixture including support claws for supporting the backing, an arm supporting the metal fixture, a spring loading the arm such that the blade rubber is forced against the windshield of a vehicle, and drive means connected to the arm for moving the arm, the metal fixture, the backing and the blade rubber in oscillating movement. The spacing interval between the adjacent two support claws is maximized at opposite end portions of the blade rubber and becomes smaller in going toward the center thereof, and a higher load is applied to the support claws near the central portion of the blade rubber than to the support claws near the opposite ends thereof, to thereby effectively avoid separation of the blade rubber from the surface of the windshield.

Windshield wiper device

An air conditioning and ventilation system for a motorcar has an outdoor air passage for introducing fresh outdoor air into the passenger room and another passage for guiding room air to the atmosphere. The two passages intersect at a point where a heat exchanger is provided for exchanging both of the actual heat and the latent heat of the airs flowing through the two passages. Air heating and cooling units are provided in the outdoor air passage downstream of the heat exchanger. The outdoor air flows first through the heat exchanger in heat exchanging relationship with the room air flowing therethrough outwardly and thus is heated or cooled by the room air, whereby the thermal load on the air heating and cooling units is greatly reduced.

A fuel evaporative emission control apparatus comprising a vessel having an adsorbent layer therein for adsorbing a vaporized fuel, and a vaporized fuel inlet conduit inserted in the adsorbent layer, wherein the improvement comprises a flow deflector of a hollow conical shape having a diameter gradually increasing upward, the deflector being embedded in the adsorbent layer, the vertical angle (.alpha.) of the flow deflector is adjusted to 60.degree. to 120.degree., the ratio (S1/S2) of the sectional area (S1) of the largest-diameter end portion of the flow deflector to the sectional area (S2) of the adsorbent layer is adjusted to 0.4 to 0.6, the ratio (a/b) of the distance (a) between the largest-diameter end portion of the flow deflector and the top end of the adsorbent layer to the distance (b) between the largest-diameter end portion of the flow deflector and the side end of the adsorbent layer is adjusted to at least 1.5, and the distance (a) is made smaller than the sum (g+b) of said distance (b) and the axial length (g) of the conduit in the adsorbent layer.

Fuel evaporative emission control apparatus for vehicles

A windshield wiper for an automotive vehicle has a flat plate located in an inclined position in which an edge of the flat plate that is upstream with respect to the air flow above the surface of the windshield is disposed closer to the surface of the windshield than the downstream edge. The flat plate also has a plurality of deflectors for disturbing the air flow. One of the deflectors is located at the upstream edge of the flat plate on the side facing the windshield and the other deflector is located at the downstream edge of the flat plate on the side opposite the windshield.

Windshield wiper

In a canister for a fuel evaporative emission control system of an automotive vehicle, a deflector of the conical frustum shape is embedded in the adsorbent layer of the canister. A diameter of the deflector gradually increases upwardly and a bottom of the deflector faces to the end of the inlet conduit. Dimensional relations of various parts of the deflector are specified. The deflector may include a check valve mounted on the underside of the bottom of the deflector.
