A power storage device includes a plurality of power storage cells. An end surface portion of a case has an aspect ratio of 1.4 or more. At least a part of a first region between a lower end of a sealing part projected image and an upper end of a principal surface region projected image receives a pressure of a first surface pressure. At least a part of a second region between the upper end of the principal surface region projected image and a lower end of the principal surface region projected image receives a pressure of a second surface pressure. The first surface pressure is higher than the second surface pressure and is 1.5 MPa or more and 3.5 MPa or less. A height of at least a part of the first region receiving the pressure of the first surface pressure is 1 mm or more.

Power storage device contained by expansion restraint module

A battery module includes: a plurality of battery cells each of which has a flat shape; a plurality of elastic spacers laminated and disposed alternately with the battery cells; and a restraining member configured to restrain the battery cells and the elastic spacers in a laminating direction of the battery cells. Each of the elastic spacers has a sheet portion that extends between two adjacent battery cells and a plurality of protrusions that protrudes from one surface of the sheet portion. The protrusions are disposed at an equal interval along at least a first direction. When an interval between the protrusions in the first direction is x and a dimension of each protrusion in the first direction is y, relationships of 4 mm≤y≤18 mm, y≥4/9x−10/3, and y≤x−2 are satisfied.

Battery module

A battery module includes a pair of secondary batteries disposed adjacent to each other and a spacer disposed between the secondary batteries. Each of the secondary batteries includes a plurality of electrodes each of which has a rectangular shape and is disposed to face each other, a case configured to house the electrodes, the case having a rectangular parallelepiped shape, and an electrolyte in the case. The spacer is made of an elastic body. An aspect ratio of each of the electrodes is 10 or less, and a spring constant of the spacer is 0.03 MPa/mm or more and 5.4 MPa/mm or less.

ECU evaluates high-rate degradation of a lithium-ion battery, using a score and an in-plane score. The score is an index for evaluating unevenness in salt concentration of an electrode body in a lamination direction of the electrode body. The in-plane score is an index for evaluating unevenness in salt concentration of the electrode body in an in-plane direction of the electrode body. For each computing cycle, ECU calculates a current score, and calculates a current in-plane score based on an SOC (State Of Charge) of the lithium-ion battery. When the absolute value of an in-plane integrated score is beyond a reference value, ECU evaluates the high-rate degradation based on the current score, the current in-plane score, and a degradation score which is obtained by integrating previous scores beyond a deadband. When the absolute value is below the reference value, ECU evaluates the high-rate degradation, based on the degradation score.

Battery system and method for evaluating lithium-ion battery degradation

A cathode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery has improved output characteristics in low-temperature environment use. A lithium mixture includes composite hydroxide particles and a lithium compound calcined in an oxidizing atmosphere under a temperature rising time from 650° C. to a calcination temperature set to 0.5-1.5 hours and the calcination temperature set to 850° C.-1000° C. and maintained for 1.0-5.0 hours. The material has the general formula (A): LiNiCoMnMO, where −0.05≤s≤0.20, x+y+z+t=1, 0.3≤x≤0.7, 0.1≤y≤0.4, 0.1≤z≤0.4, 0≤t≤0.05, and M is selected from Ca, Mg, Al, Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, and W. The material includes hexagonal lithium composite oxide particles. The ratio of the crystallite size at plane (104) to plane (003) is greater than 0 and less than 0.60.

An ECU is configured to execute SOC estimation control for estimating an SOC of a battery. The ECU obtains 'first voltage' indicating an OCV of the battery in the SOC estimation control. The ECU controls an engine and a PCU such that the battery is charged with an amount of electric power equal to or larger than a prescribed amount, when the first voltage is within a voltage range where hysteresis occurs. The ECU obtains 'second voltage' indicating an OCV of the charged battery, and estimates the SOC of the battery from the second voltage.

A controller of a deterioration estimation device for a secondary battery is configured to acquire a first open circuit voltage when a temperature of the secondary battery is a first temperature and a second open circuit voltage when the temperature of the secondary battery is a second temperature changed from the first temperature, and estimate a degree of deterioration of the secondary battery by using a difference between first and second slopes. The first slope is a ratio of a voltage change obtained by subtracting the first open circuit voltage from the second open circuit voltage to a temperature change obtained by subtracting the first temperature from the second temperature. The second slope is a ratio of the voltage change to the temperature change when the temperature of the new secondary battery has changed from the first temperature to the second temperature.

The battery pack disclosed herein includes a plurality of unit cells. The plurality of unit cells is connected to each other by a bus bar. The bus bar has two terminal connection portions and a linking portion. A linear welded portion is formed in a portion where the terminal connection portions and the external terminals overlap with each other. The linear welded portion is non-annular in the plane of the terminal connection portions and has a straight linear portion extending in a direction orthogonal to the arrangement direction, and two circular arc portions that extend from respective ends of the straight linear portion and are curved toward a side opposite to the side where the linking portion is located.
