A shift control apparatus of an automatic transmission includes: an input detecting unit configured to detect a real rotational speed of the input shaft; an output detecting unit configured to detect a real rotational speed of the output shaft; an estimating unit configured to estimate an estimated rotational speed of the input shaft, which corresponds to a shift request, by multiplying the real rotational speed of the output shaft by a target gear ratio; and a control unit configured to control the rotation of the input shaft based on a detection result from the input detecting unit. The control unit controls the rotation of the input shaft such that an upper-limiting rotational speed of a variation in real rotational speed of the input shaft is lower than the estimated rotational speed.

The system includes a simulation device for simulating actual states such as the actual operating states of an automobile based on various input conditions, a program generation device for generating a control program for an automobile transmission or the like on the basis of the simulated states, a detection device for detecting expressions requiring quantization data included in the control program, a conversion device for converting the detected expressions using a method of notation such as reverse Polish notation, an arithmetic device for multiplying the converted variables by prescribed scaling factors obtained from the quantization factor, and for compressing the expressions multiplied by the arithmetic device. A program generated on a mainframe computer using floating point arithmetic can be translated entirely by machine into a program that can be executed by a microcomputer without using floating point arithmetic.

In a ranging sensor system for a vehicle for calculating a physical data between a subject vehicle and an object on the basis of the time between the transmission of a signal toward the object and the reception of a signal reflected from the object, a first obtained detection data is set as an offset value in an offset value setting circuit. The offset value is subtracted from the detection data in a subtractor, and an output from the subtractor is filtered in a filter circuit. The offset value is added to an output from the filter circuit in an adder to provide a physical data after the filtering. Thus, it is possible to eliminate an error included in detection data, while insuring a responsiveness and a stability.

Similarly, the speed ratio in the continuously variable transmission is determined from the selected rule.

A vehicle control system embodied as an autocruise control. Fuzzy Logic is introduced in the system such that an expert driver's operation or judgment made on an non-automated vehicle is able to be incorporated in the system as fuzzy production rules. In the system, the control is effected in accordance with the rules which can be expressed linguistically in a simple manner and has a predictive nature therein. Operating condition of the vehicle is detected through parameters such as a vehicle speed, a vehicle acceleration and a change of vehicle acceleration which are then assigned on a scale named universe of discourse. The satisfaction degree is evaluated so that one rule is selected. A control value is determined from the selected rule which is output to an actuator to be controlled.

Vehicle control system

A system for electronically controlling vehicle operation vehicle and a method therefor applied to a cruise control, which utilizes fuzzy logic or approximate reasoning in determining a control output. Namely, vehicle operating conditions are assigned on a scale called a universe of discourse having degrees of 0 to 1.0 called membership functions or degrees. The detected conditions are identified on the universe and are then defined by fuzzy labels which are in turn used for retrieving control rules expressed in similar labels. Pertinent control rules are composed in fuzzy relation so as to obtain a scaled or universe value which is then converted into a real numerical value. The value is finally sent to a pulse motor control device which opens or closes a throttle valve in order to maintain the vehicle at a predetermined cruising speed.
