The present invention is directed to an ink supply device having an ink cartridge and a cartridge mount. The ink cartridge has an ink supply portion and an air intake portion. The cartridge mount has a first projection and a second projection. When the ink cartridge is inserted into the cartridge mount, the first projection opens the ink supply portion, and the second projection opens the air intake portion. The second projection has an operating piece, a guide path for receiving the operating piece, and a spring for exerting force on the operating piece. The second projection contacts the air supply portion prior to the first projection contacting the ink supply portion, and the guide path receives the operating piece after the second projection contacts the air supply portion.

Ink supply device and inkjet image recording device

There is disclosed a movement apparatus including a movable body, a flexible long member, a support member, and a tubular member. The movable body reciprocates along a straight line. The long member has having two opposite ends a first one of which is fixed to the movable body and a second one of which is fixed to a stationary member. The form of the long member changes in accordance with a reciprocating movement of the movable body along the straight line and relative to the stationary member. The support member has a linear material portion at which the support member supports the long member. The tubular member is fitted on the linear material portion.

An ink cartridge holder includes: a peripheral wall portion which allows ink cartridges to be inserted thereinto and withdrawn therefrom through an opening formed at one of opposite ends thereof; a partition wall portion which is formed integrally with the peripheral wall portion and is positioned in a position distant from the opening, the partition wall portion interconnecting two portions of the peripheral wall portion that are opposed to each other, and partitioning an inner space of the peripheral wall portion into sections whose number corresponds to the number of the ink cartridges; and an extension wall portion which extends continuously from the partition wall portion along one of the two opposed portions of the peripheral wall portion toward the opening, and which is formed integrally with the partition wall portion and the peripheral wall portion.

An ink cartridge holding device for holding an ink cartridge includes a holder holding the ink cartridge and having an opening so as to allow the ink cartridge to be inserted thereinto and withdrawn therefrom through the opening, a door which is attached to the holder and is pivotable between (a) an open position at which the opening is uncovered for permitting insertion and withdrawal of the ink cartridge through the opening into and from the holder and (b) a closed position at which the opening is covered for inhibiting the insertion and withdrawal of the ink cartridge through the opening, a locking member which is attached to the door for locking the door at the closed position, and an interference preventing portion which is provided at the door for preventing an interference of the locking member with the withdrawal of the ink cartridge when the door is placed at the open position.

Ink cartridge holding device

An ink cartridge holding device includes: a holder holding the ink cartridge and having an opening so as to allow the ink cartridge to be inserted and withdrawn through the opening; a door which is attached to the holder and is pivotable between (a) an open position at which the opening is uncovered for permitting insertion and withdrawal and (b) a closed position at which the opening is covered for inhibiting the insertion and withdrawal; a locking member which is attached to the door and is displacable between (A) an engaging position in which the locking member is engaged with the holder for locking the door at the closed position and (B) a releasing position in which the locking member is released from the holder so as to allow the door to be pivoted from the closed position. The locking member is displaced, when the door is pivoted from the open position to the closed position, from the releasing position to the engaging position via a transitional state in which a pressing portion presses a pressing-force receiving surface while the pressing portion is moved relative to and along the pressing-force receiving surface. The pressing-force receiving surface of the locking member is a curved surface whose inclination continuously varies in a direction in which the pressing-force receiving surface and the pressing portion are moved relative to each other.

An ink cartridge holding device including: a holder having an opening which allows insertion and withdrawal of the ink cartridge through the opening; a door attached to the holder which is pivotable between (a) an open position at which the opening is uncovered for permitting the insertion and the withdrawal and (b) a closed position at which the opening is covered for inhibiting the insertion and withdrawal; a locking member attached to the door which is displaceable, which has an exposed portion exposed in a front face of the door, and which is for locking the door at the closed position when the locking member is placed in a predetermined position and for permitting the door to be pivoted toward the open position when the locking member is displaced from the predetermined position; and a protruding portion which is provided near to the exposed portion to allow the locking member to be displaced and which protrudes by a greater amount than the exposed portion in a direction away from the front face of the door.

An ink jet printer includes a print head, a carriage on which the head is mounted, and a maintenance mechanism for the head. The carriage can be moved along a guide bar by the driving system including a toothed driving pulley, a cylindrical driven pulley and a timing belt, which runs between the pulleys. The carriage is fixed to the belt. When the carriage moves, it pushes the lever for operating the maintenance mechanism. This applies a high load to the driving pulley. Part of the belt has teeth for meshing with the driving pulley when the carriage moves in the area where the high load is applied to this pulley. Consequently, the driving pulley does not slip on the belt.

Ink jet printer

In an ink jet type print recording apparatus, a predetermined number of pulses are first produced in a positive direction when gear disengagement is carried out to drive an line feed motor in a forward direction at an angular amplitude within a half of a gear tooth width. Subsequently, pulses whose number is twice as large as the predetermined number are produced in the opposite direction to drive the line feed motor in the reverse direction. Subsequently, a predetermined number of pulses are produced in the positive direction again to drive the line feed motor in the forward direction. With this operation, an idle gear is smoothly disengaged from a link target gear. The line feed motor is reciprocatively driven in the same manner as described above when the idle gear is linked to a new link target gear.

Ink jet print recording apparatus

A printer comprises a type wheel, a print hammer and a guide member each disposed in parallel with a platen. The type wheel and print hammer are both disposed on a carriage body which is laterally reciprocated along a guide shaft. A holder member, on which a print ribbon and a correction ribbon are mounted, is disposed on the carriage body in such a manner as to be switchably turned between an erasing position, where the rear end thereof is lifted up by a predetermined height, and a print position where it is not lifted up. Correction ribbon taking-up mechanisms disposed in the holder member and the carriage body feed the correction ribbon stepwise to switch the position of the holder member. Furthermore, a swing limiter mechanism is provided for restraining the holder member from being lifted up beyond the erasing position.

Printer with ribbon holder

A daisy-wheel type printer having a position shifting mechanism for selectively positioning a ribbon cassette and an erase ribbon at a given place in front of a platen, a print hammer driving mechanism, a print ribbon takeup mechanism and an erase ribbon takeup mechanism. These mechanisms are driven by a single drive motor through a plurality of cams mounted on a drive shaft of the drive motor. The drive motor is carried on a carriage body laterally movable along the platen. The carriage body also carries a holder member on which the ribbon cassette and the erase ribbon are mounted. The holder member is pivotally supported to a support shaft and has a printing pivot position and an erase pivot position. The plurality of cams includes a lifter cam, a print cam and a ribbon supply cam. The lifter cam includes a plurality of cam portions.

Daisy-wheel type printer having holder movable between print position

Upon operation of an erasure key for erasing a printed character, a correction ribbon is moved in an erasure position according to rotation of a motor, and then, the motor is continuously rotated forward at a current I2 larger than a current I1 in a print operation. Therefore, a print hammer is accelerated to a speed V2 higher than a speed V1 in the print operation, to strike a platen at the speed V2. In the erasing operation, no pressing operation is performed after the stroke. Rather, the print hammer is immediately returned and the ink is removed.
