A silver-based powder is surface-treated with an oxidation inhibitor by means of a mechanochemical reaction. A method of preparation of the silver-based powder includes using an organic solution of the oxidation inhibitor as a lubricating agent, applying mechanical energy to the silver-based powder, and subjecting the silver-based powder to surface treatment with said oxidation inhibitor by means of a mechanochemical reaction.

An organic silicon compound emulsion for quickly imparting excellent water-repellent properties to the surfaces of porous inorganic base materials such as concrete, mortar, and masonry. The emulsion is prepared by the steps of emulsifying a mixture consisting of (A) an organoalkoxysilane, (B) an organopolysiloxane having in its molecule at least 2 alkoxy groups or hydroxyl groups bonded to a silicon atom, (C) an anionic emulsifying agent, and (D) water, and heat aging the emulsion at a temperature below 100&deg; C. In another embodiment, the method comprises the steps emulsifying a mixture of the components (A) to (D) and adding an acidic or alkaline substance to the emulsion. In a third embodiment, the method comprises the steps of forming a mixture consisting of the components (A) to (D), adding an acidic or alkaline substance thereto, and performing the emulsification thereafter.

A parting agent for a copier toner is disclosed. The parting agent exhibits no loss of parting properties or generation of gel under high-temperature conditions near 200&deg; C., and causes no problems with paper feed or the like. The parting agent is composed of a diorganopolysiloxane of the average unit formula: R,SiO,, where the R groups are the same or different and are substituted or unsubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon groups, with at least 50 mol % of the R groups being methyl groups, and 1.95 &lE;a&lE;2.20. The diorganopolysiloxane has a viscosity of 10 to 100,000 centistokes at 25&deg; C., and generates no more than 5 ppm (by weight) of formaldehyde per hour when kept at 200&deg; C. in an air atmosphere.

A water-based treatment agent for tissue paper suppresses any feeling of slipperiness or wetness in ordinary tissue paper and toilet paper so the paper has a dry touch, ample smoothness, and a clean, smooth, tactile impression. It also provides the paper with a superior softness. The water-based treatment agent consists of a silicone oil emulsion in which crosslinked silicone particles with a mean particle size of 0.01-100 &mgr;m are contained in silicone oil droplets with a mean particle size of 0.05-500 &mgr;m, which are dispersed in water. The particle size of the crosslinked silicone particles is smaller than the particle size of the silicone oil droplets.

A release agent comprising a mixture of (A) a dimethylpolysiloxane and (B) an organopolysiloxane with phenolic hydroxyl groups, said mixture having an average phenol equivalent within the range of 10,000 to 5,000,000 and a dimethylsiloxane oligomer with less than 20 silicon atoms in an amount of less than 5,000 ppm, said agent having a viscosity within the range of 5.times.10.sup.-5 to 1.times.10.sup.-1 m.sup.2 /s at 25.degree. C. The release agent of the present invention possesses excellent heat-resistant and release properties, and suppresses formation of formaldehyde under the effect of thermal decomposition.
