In a failure determination device for an internal combustion engine equipped with a supercharger, the failure determination device determining a failure of a breather pipe that is connected between a crankcase and an intake passage at a position on an upstream side of the supercharger, the breather pipe is constituted by a double pipe including an inner pipe and an outer pipe, a communication passage communicates an enclosed space between the inner pipe and the outer pipe of the breather pipe with a portion of the intake passage on a downstream side of the supercharger. Occlusion diagnosis of a vent passage is executed with high accuracy based on an estimated value of the volume of a sealed space. An occlusion diagnosis device includes a diagnosis unit for the diagnosis. An occlusion diagnosis unit of the diagnosis unit executes the occlusion diagnosis, based on whether or not an estimated volume of a sealed space of a fuel-vapor sealing system exceeds a volume threshold. The occlusion diagnosis determines that the vent passage is suspected of being occluded if the estimated volume is equal to or less than the volume threshold, while diagnoses that the vent passage is not occluded if the estimated volume exceeds the volume threshold. If it is determined that the vent passage is suspected of being occluded, the occlusion diagnosis unit causes the occlusion diagnosis of the vent passage to remain incomplete until a cumulative exhaust amount of fluid exceeds an exhaust amount threshold.

An optical fiber ribbon includes N pieces of optical fibers in a state of being disposed in parallel. At least some parts of the N pieces of optical fibers contact each other and are connected to each other by a resin; an outer diameter of the optical fiber is equal to or larger than 0.135 mm and equal to or smaller than 0.180 mm; a connection part connected by the resin or another resin and a non-connection part not connected by the resin or another resin are intermittently provided in a longitudinal direction between intermittently connected core wires of an optical fiber disposed at the Mth and an optical fiber disposed at the (M+1)th among the N pieces of optical fibers; the N is a multiple of 12; and the M is a multiple of 4.

An internal combustion engine includes on-off valves that configure a closed space by closing an internal space of a breather line, a pump that depressurizes or pressurizes the closed space, a pressure sensor that detects a pressure of the closed space, and an abnormality assessment element that assesses abnormality of the breather line. The abnormality assessment element assesses abnormality of the breather line based on a pressure change of the closed space in a case where the closed space is depressurized or pressurized by the pump.

A blockage diagnosis device includes a diagnosis unit that performs blockage diagnosis on a vent passage based on a change over time in an internal pressure of the vent passage in association with the operation of a negative pressure pump. A primary determination unit of the diagnosis unit makes a primary determination that the vent passage is blocked, if a first estimation volume Vis less than a preset threshold volume Vth. A secondary determination unit of the diagnosis unit makes a secondary determination that the vent passage is blocked, if the second estimation volume Vis less than the threshold volume Vth. If the primary determination indicating that the vent passage is blocked is made in the primary determination unit, and the secondary determination indicating that the vent passage is blocked is made in the secondary determination unit, the diagnosis unit determines that the vent passage is blocked.

Disclosed is a fuel level estimation device including: an information acquiring unit acquiring information about a closed system internal pressure of a closed fuel vapor system including the fuel tank, a vent passage, and a canister; a flow rate controlling unit controlling, by actuating a negative pressure pump, a flow rate of fuel vapor-containing gas in the closed fuel vapor system; a fuel level estimating unit estimating a fuel level based on a total volume of the closed fuel vapor system and an occupied volume of the gas. The fuel level estimating unit estimates the occupied volume of the gas by using a change in a closed system internal pressure before and after the closed fuel vapor system is subjected to pressure-reducing treatment for a predetermined interval and a reference discharging rate when the gas is subject to the pressure-reducing treatment. An abnormality diagnostic apparatus is also disclosed.

A polarity inversion control circuit is for supplying polarity inversion signals to the liquid crystal panel, and it is characterized to switch the levels of the polarity inversion signals in such a manner that a difference between an integrated value of frame periods when the polarity inversion signal is in a first level and an integrated value of the frame periods when the polarity inversion signal is in a second level becomes small.

A brake system for a vehicle can include a brake actuator, an equalizer operably connected to the actuator, and two brake wires that are each connected to the equalizer and extend to first and second brake assemblies. The first and second brake wires can extend in a first direction extending from a front of the vehicle toward a rear of the vehicle. The first brake wire can cross over the second brake wire at least once and possibly twice, each time in a direction transverse to the first direction. Additionally, the first and second brake wires can each include a cover that protects a respective wire. The covers can be in contact with each other at the crossover point for the wires to minimize noise, friction and to improve operating ability and durability of the brake wires. The various features, such as the cross-over configuration, the contacting wires, and/or the covers, also make it possible to minimize the space requirements for the wires in the vehicle.
