A color conversion correction data generation device includes circuitry that acquires first chromaticity values obtained from conversion target image data and second chromaticity values of sample image data, the conversion target image data being image data to be subjected to color conversion, the sample image data being obtained by reading a printed sample; curve-fits chromaticity value correspondence data to generate color conversion correction data, the chromaticity value correspondence data being data in which the acquired first chromaticity values and the acquired second chromaticity values are associated with each other; and outputs the color conversion correction data for correcting image data obtained by subjecting the conversion target image data to the color conversion.

A reading device includes a carriage configured to move in a sub-scanning direction with reference to an object placed on a contact glass, an optical sensor attached to the carriage, the optical sensor being configured to scan the object placed on the contact glass to obtain an image of the object, and a reference scale used as a reference when a dimension of the object is computed based on the image obtained by the optical sensor. In the reading device, the reference scale extends in a main scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction with reference to the object, and is disposed outside a range of image acquisition in which the optical sensor scans the object to obtain the image of the object as the carriage moves and inside a maximum movement range in which the carriage is movable and the optical sensor obtains the image of the object.

A reading device includes a carriage movable in a sub-scanning direction, an optical sensor mounted on the carriage, the optical sensor being configured to scan an object placed on a contact glass, a reference scale used as a reference when a dimension of the object is computed based on an image obtained as the optical sensor scans the object, a flat gauge to be scanned by the optical sensor to calculate a corrective value used to correct the image obtained by the optical sensor, and circuitry to calculate the corrective value based on a scanned image including the reference scale and the flat gauge obtained by the optical sensor, and correct, based on the corrective value, a measurement image including an image of the object and an image of the reference scale obtained by the optical sensor and compute the dimension of the object based on the corrected measurement image.

An apparatus for processing an image, includes circuitry configured to: input a first image indicating a target color; input a second image formed by an image forming device to be subjected to adjustment; determine types of objects; and compare the first image and the second image and generate, for each of the types of the objects, a color conversion parameter, based on a correspondence between a chromaticity value in the first image and a chromaticity value in the second image.

An image forming apparatus includes a memory and circuitry. The memory is configured to store a status of the image forming apparatus and a first detected density value obtained in a first tone correction based on a dither pattern. The circuitry is configured to calculate a difference between the status of the image forming apparatus upon the first tone correction and the status of the image forming apparatus upon a second tone correction following the first tone correction. The circuitry is further configured to calculate a correction value according to the difference in the status of the image forming apparatus, based on the first detected density value and a second detected density value obtained in the second tone correction based on a reference pattern.
