A spread illuminating apparatus provides uniform illumination and high brightness over a whole screen. A plurality of plate-like light conductive members form a multi-layer light conductive member. An optical path conversion means composed of grooves formed parallel to the thickness direction of each plate-like light conductive member and flat portions is provided on one surface of each of the plate-like light conductive members. Each groove of each plate-like light conductive member overlaps partly with each groove of adjacent plate-like light conductive members thereby constituting each multiple groove. A plurality of multiple grooves of the light conductive member are formed with inclination such that one multiple groove thereof overlaps partly with adjacent multiple grooves with the longitudinal direction of the light conductive member.

In a spread illuminating apparatus including a transparent substrate which has a light reflection pattern with grooves formed to be inclined with respect to an optical axis of a light source, an optical path conversion means comprising grooves and flat portions is formed on a side surface of a light conductive member, where the depth of the grooves increases in proportion to the increase in distance from either of spot-like light sources toward a deepest groove formed at a predetermined position. The deepest groove is formed at a position off the center of the light conductive member by a predetermined distance toward either of the spot-like light sources, whereby the distribution of the amount of light emitted from the light conductive member toward the transparent substrate can be appropriately modified so as to level off the unevenness in brightness on the screen.

This invention provides a two-phase motor which is applicable to a field where high rotation precision is required as in an FDD spindle motor, which requires a low cost, and which can maintain stable characteristics free from magnetic balance fluctuation between the two phases due to assembly. This motor has a ferromagnetic stator having N stator salient poles and a rotor magnet having M poles. N and M are selected to be both even numbers so a relation N:M=2:2n-1 (n is a natural number) holds. The N stator salient poles are divided into first and second salient pole groups of N/2 stator salient poles on which windings are concentratedly wound. The stator salient poles belonging to the first and second salient pole groups are alternately arranged in the circumferential direction of the stator. The phases of the windings of the stator salient poles belonging to the first and second salient pole groups are sequentially opposite to each other in the circumferential direction in units of groups. The windings of the stator salient poles belonging to the first and second salient pole groups are sequentially, electrically connected in the circumferential direction in units of groups to respectively form first and second phases, thereby providing a two-phase arrangement.
