A printing device has a print unit for printing on roll paper; a wireless communication unit for communicating wirelessly with a paired control device; and a controller for receiving print data by wireless communication from the control device, and controlling the print unit based on the received print data. When changing from a pairing-disabled mode to a pairing-enabled mode, the controller controls the print unit to print pairing-related information on roll paper, does not process pairing in the pairing-disabled mode, and processes pairing when a pairing request is received in the pairing-enabled mode.

Terminating a wireless connection is simplified. A printer has a print unit that prints on recording media; a wireless communication unit configured to communicate wirelessly; and a control unit. When print data with a specific command appended is received from the external device unit, the control unit executes a terminate communication process that cuts the wireless connection based on the specific command after controlling the print unit to print based on the print data.

Terminating a wireless connection is simplified. A printer has a print unit configured to print on a recording medium; a wireless communication unit configured to connect wirelessly and communicate wirelessly with an external device; and a control unit configured to control the print unit based on print data received from the external device, and execute a communication termination process to terminate the wireless connection when a command instructing terminating the wireless connection is received from the external device.

A hybrid processing device having printheads that records on a check conveyed through a medium conveyance path includes a first sensor that detects insertion of a check from the recording medium entrance of the medium conveyance path, a second sensor that detects discharge of the check from the recording medium exit of the medium conveyance path, and a third sensor that detects presence of a check between the first and second sensors. It is determined that the recording medium has been removed from the conveyance path, when the recording medium detectors change from a first state, in which at least one of the recording medium detectors detects that the recording medium is present, to a second state, in which none of the recording medium detectors detect that the recording medium is present.
