An coating apparatus, wherein the apparatus applies a coating, onto a surface of an aluminum alloy member for a heat exchanger to be assembled by brazing, with a top-feed-type roll transfer system having at least three rolls, the coating being obtained by mixing into an organic binder a metal powder, a flux powder, a powder mixture thereof, or a compound containing a metal component and a flux component, wherein rotation directions of transfer rolls of the apparatus arranged above a surface to be coated of an aluminum alloy extruded member that moves in a horizontal direction, satisfy a relationship in which a rotation direction of a coated-metal roll for coating, which rotates in a direction opposite to a moving direction of the extruded member, and a rotation direction of a metal roll for adjusting an adhesion amount of the coating by contacting with the above roll, are opposite to each other; and a method of producing an aluminum alloy heat exchanger member using the apparatus; and an aluminum alloy heat exchanger member.

There is disclosed an aluminum or aluminum alloy extruding die, which comprises Co-group alloy, Ni-group alloy, Cr-group alloy or like high temperature wear-resistant alloy coating applied by thermal spraying on a required die surface portion having been formed in the shape of a rough surface having surface roughness Rz of 5 &mgr;m or more. Preferably, after application of the alloy coating, the die is held at a temperature in the range from 500 to 800&deg; C. for a predetermined period of time or the alloy coating surface is so roughened as to have surface roughness Rz of 10 &mgr;m or less.

Corrosion preventing layer forming method

There is disclosed an aluminum alloy tube whose outer surface is covered with a filler alloy by metal-spraying, wherein the base material of the tube has an uneven rough surface with the depth of 10 &mgr;m or more, and the difference between the highest projection of the base material surface and the highest projection of the filler alloy layer covering it is 3 to 25 &mgr;m; a heat exchanger, which is assembled by using the tubes; and a method of metal-spraying, which comprises metal-spraying an aluminum alloy filler powder in a melted state, by the high-velocity flame metal-spraying process, in which the filler contains 15 to 50% Si by weight, and the powder is mainly made up of particles whose diameter is 10 &mgr;m to 70 &mgr;m. The aluminum alloy tube is excellent in brazability and corrosion resistance, and by using the tube, it is possible to assemble a heat exchanger without allowing locally filler-unbonded parts to be formed. Further, according to the method of metal-spraying, it is possible to form a excellent filler alloy layer, and obtain a tube high in brazability and corrosion resistance.
