A multilayer ceramic capacitor includes an element body in which a dielectric layer and an internal electrode layer are laminated; a first external electrode that is provided at one end of the element body and is connected to a part of the internal electrode layer; and a second external electrode that is provided at an other end of the element body and is connected to that part of the internal electrode layer which is not connected to the first external electrode, in which the first external electrode and the second external electrode each have a linear groove.

In an embodiment, a multilayer ceramic capacitorhas a first external electrodeand a second external electrodethat each contain metal grains MP and dielectric grains DP, where an oxide of the same metal element constituting the metal grain MP, or MO, is present at the interface between the metal grain MP and the dielectric grain DP. The multilayer ceramic capacitor can prevent the hardness of its external electrodes from dropping, even when the external electrodes contain metal grains and dielectric grains.

An electronic component is provided with: an electronic component body including a top face, a bottom face, a pair of side faces, and a pair of end faces provided with an outside electrode; and a pair of metal terminals individually connected to the pair of outside electrodes of the electronic component body, wherein the metal terminals is electrically and mechanically connected to the outside electrode of the electronic component body, and is also in contact with bottom face of the electronic component. The electronic component requires no jig or a simple jig if any for securing a metal terminal and electronic component body in place.

Electronic component and method for manufacturing the same

A multilayer ceramic capacitor and a method of manufacturing the same is provided. The capacitor comprises dielectric layers and internal electrode layers alternately stacked. Two of the internal electrode layers that are located outermost and/or at least one of the internal electrode layers that is located inside each outermost internal electrode layer are substantially oxidized and do not function as electrodes. The capacitance of the multilayer ceramic capacitor depends on the unoxidized internal electrode layers other tan the oxidized ones. The method of manufacturing a multilayer ceramic capacitor comprises forming green dielectric layers, forming green internal electrode layers, preparing a green ceramic chip, forming green external electrodes, and firing the green ceramic chip.
