A vinyl chloride resin composition having excellent weatherability and impact resistance which comprises (a) a vinyl chloride resin, (b) a graft copolymer which is obtained by graft-polymerizing (b2) a graft monomer component composed of 40 to 100% by weight of methyl methacrylate and 0 to 60% by weight of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of an alkyl acrylate, an alkyl methacrylate, an unsaturated nitrile and an aromatic vinyl compound onto (b1) a crosslinked elastomeric polymer composed mainly of an alkyl acrylate, the methyl ethyl ketone-soluble portion of the graft copolymer having an &#x3b7;sp/c of 1 to 5 measured at 30&#xb0; C. with respect to its 0.2 g/100 cc acetone solution, and (c) calcium carbonate; and molded articles having a multilayer structure wherein a layer molded from the above composition is used as the surface layer or the inner layer.

A graft copolymer composition obtained by mixing a graft copolymer (A) containing a rubbery polymer having a glass transition temperature of not higher than 0&deg; C. as a trunk polymer and containing a alkyl ester of methacrylic acid-base polymer as a graft component, and having a mean particle size of at least 0.15 &mgr;m, and a graft copolymer (B) having a means particle size of from 0.03 to 0.13 &mgr;m; and a vinyl chloride-base resin composition containing the above described graft copolymer composition as an impact modifier, with excellent impact strength and suitable for use in the productions of pipes, window frames, joints, fences, doors, switch boxes. etc.

A vinyl chloride resin composition having an improved impact resistance with a good transparency which includes (A) a graft copolymer reinforcing agent prepared by emulsion-polmerizing 15 to 35 parts by weight of a monomer mixture in the presence of 85 to 65 parts by weight of a butadiene homopolymer or copolymer having a butadiene content as high as 82% by weight or more, said monomer mixture containing of 50 to 95% by weight of an aromatic vinyl monomer such as styrene, 0.1 to 40% by weight of a vinyl cyanide monomer such as acrylonitrile and 0 to 40% by weight of other vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith, and (B) a vinyl chloride resin. The butadiene homo- or copolymer may be treated prior to the emulsion polymerization, in order to prevent the produced graft copolymer particles from coagulating into a massive material, by reacting a small amount of a crosslinking monomer and optionally an alkyl acrylate or methacrylate in the presence of the butadiene homo- or copolymer in the form of an aqueous latex.
