An ink jet recording paper characterized in that it comprises a base paper wherein at least one surface has a recording layer, this recording layer containing at least 40 weight % of a pigment and no more than 60 weight % of a binder, the surface roughness by ten point height on the recording layer surface being no more than 5 .mu.m, and the air permeability of the recording paper being no more than 1,000 seconds and a manufacturing process thereof are disclosed.

Inkjet recording paper and a manufacturing process thereof

An ink jet recording paper having a support provided on at least one surface with a pigment-containing coating in accordance with a cast coating method, with said pigment comprising at least 50 weight percent of a calcium carbonate-compounded silica, whereby achieving excellent ink absorption, smoothness, gloss and water resistance together with an excellent dot density, sharpness and roundness to ensure recording of high quality, high contrast full color images.

A heat-sensitive recording material comprises a sheet substrate applied thereon with a heat-sensitive, color-developing layer containing as the main components a colorless or light-colored leuco dye, a developer for permitting said dye to develop a color by heating and a binder, in which the binder used is an ammonium salt of a diisobutylene/maleic anhydride copolymer is expressed in terms of the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R stands for a diisobutylene group a part of said ammonium salt being substituted and modified by an ammonium salt comprising a primary, secondary or tertiary ethanol amine.

Heat-sensitive recording materials

A heat-sensitive recording material is disclosed, comprising a support having thereon a heat-sensitive, color-forming layer mainly composed of as color-forming components a colorless or pale-colored leuco dye and an acidic compound capable of allowing said leuco dye to color develop by heating, wherein said heat-sensitive, color-forming layer comprises a color former comprising a fluoran derivative represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents a lower alkyl group, and X represents a halogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a cyano group, or a nitro group, a developer comprising bis(p-hydroxyphenyl)sulfone or a derivative thereof represented by the following general formula (II): ##STR2## wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, a phenoxy group, a carbonyl group, a nitro group, or a cyano group, and a binder comprising an ammonium salt of a diisobutylene/maleic anhydride copolymer and a styrene/butadiene copolymer. The heat-sensitive recording material of the present invention is good in preservability.
