An electrical connector for connecting to a mother board a daughter board having a plurality of pads on a front edge thereof includes a plurality of contact terminals made by stamping and bending a resilient conductive sheet so as to provide first retaining sections which are fixed to the insulating housing. The daughter board is inserted between upper and lower contact portions of the contact terminals with a zero-insertion force and then rotated to bring the pads into contact with the contact portions with a predetermined contact force, with the spring sections flexed so as to reduce the distance between the upper and lower contact portions and made floating.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector for connecting to a mother board a daughter board having a plurality of pads on a front edge thereof includes a plurality of contact terminals made by stamping and bending a resilient conductive sheet so as to provide first and second retaining sections which are fixed to the insulating housing. The daughter board is inserted between upper and lower contact portions of the contact terminals with a zero-insertion force and then rotated to bring the pads into contact with the contact portions with a predetermined contact force.

An electrical connector includes a board latch which has an L-shaped engaging arm for latching a board. The outside face of a free end of the engaging arm is flush with the outside face of a vertical portion of the engaging arm. A ridge is provided on the engaging arm for positioning the board in the longitudinal direction of a board receiving slot.

An electrical connector includes a housing (3) with a base (4) having a slot(5); a plurality of contact elements (103, 105) provided in the slot; a pair of fixed members (21) extending laterally from opposite ends of the base; a pair of movable members (23) extending from the fixed members and having L-shaped cross-section foot areas; and a pair of fixing members (9) attached to the fixed members and having a first controlling section (301) to control outward movement of the movable members and a second controlling section (303) to control inward movement of the movable members.

A card edge connector to be surface-mounted on a circuit board having a plurality of conductors, which includes an insulation housing (100) having a base section (111) with a slot (112) for receiving a card edge on which a plurality of contact pads are provided; a plurality of bent-type contact elements arranged in the slot on at least one side (114) on which the connector is to be mounted on the circuit board; a plurality of movable arms (301) having contact points (307) for contact with the contact pads of the card; a plurality of fixing arms (303) having connection sections for connection to the conductors of the circuit boards and fixing sections (500) to be fixed to the insulation housing; a plurality of central arms (302) for connecting the movable arms and the fixing arms to form the substantially C-shaped, flexible contact elements; the connection sections of the fixing arms being at positions opposite to the central arms with respect to the fixing sections (500); and the contact points of the movable arms being at positions above the fixing sections or opposite to the central arms with respect to the fixing sections.

Card edge connector

A coaxial ribbon cable connector (1) consists of a cable connector (2) and a substrate connector (3). The cable connector includes an insulating case (4) having a partition wall (4a); a plurality of signal terminals (8) to which signal lines of a coaxial ribbon cable (11) are connected; a plurality of ground terminals (9) to which drain lines of the cable are connected; the signal and ground terminals being disposed on the partition wall in a back-to-back relationship to form a microstrip line; a plurality of shield terminals (10) disposed between the signal terminals and each having a short-circuit portion (10c) brought into contact with one of the ground terminal. The substrate connector includes an insulating case (33); a plurality of signal terminals (43) arranged within the insulating case; a plurality of ground terminals (44) arranged within the insulating case; a plurality of shield terminals (45) arranged within the insulating case; and the signal, ground, and shield terminals of the substrate connector being brought into contact with the signal, ground and shield terminals of the cable connector such that shield terminals are connected to the ground terminals via contact legs of the shield terminals when the cable connector is plugged into the substrate connector.

Coaxial ribbon cable connector

A high-speed transmission electrical connector assembly consists of the first and second connectors. The first connector includes a first housing (1); a plurality of first contact elements (12) arranged in rows and columns in the first housing; and a plurality of first shield terminals (14) each disposed between a pair of first contact elements and aligned in rows. The second connector includes a second housing (2); a plurality of second contact elements (24) arranged in rows and columns in the second housing; and a plurality of second shield terminals (25) each disposed between a pair of second contact elements and aligned in columns

High-speed transmission electrical connector

A print substrate connector having a main body comprising a pair of supporting portions. A lock arm 26 is provided on a sidewall of a substrate mounting groove 22 formed in the main body of the substrate connector, into which groove 22 a terminal connecting portion 30 of the print substrate 29 is inserted. The part of the sidewall of the substrate mounting groove 22, on which part the lock arm 26 is placed, faces a vacant portion at the sides of the terminal connecting portion 30 of the print substrate 29, on which vacant portion no element is mounted. In operation or when the print substrate 29 is inserted into the mounting groove 22 of the main body, a locking claw 28 formed on the lock arm 26 is adapted to engage with a locking hole 32 formed on the vacant portion of the print conveniently used as a locking means of the substrate without a bad influence on a high density mounting of elements mounted on the substrate. A supporting foundation 34 of the lock arm 26 placed in parallel with the inner face of the sidewall of the connector main body 20a and has a forked end leaving a dent 35 on the bottom face of the forked end.

Substrate connector

A connector (1) for coaxial ribbon cable (11) consists of a male connector (2) and a female connector (3). The male connector includes an insulation case (4) with a partition wall (4a); a plurality of signal terminals (8) mounted on one side of the partition wall of the insulation case for connection with a plurality of signal lines (17) of a coaxial cable; and a plurality of ground terminals (9) mounted on the other side of the partition wall for connection with a plurality of drain lines (14) of the coaxial cable to form microstrip lines together with the signal terminals. The female connector includes a second insulation case (33) with a second partition wall (37a); a plurality of second signal terminals (43) mounted on one side of the second partition wall for contact with the first signal terminals; and a plurality of second ground terminals (44) for contact with the second ground terminals mounted on the other side of the second partition wall and form second microstrip lines together with the second signal terminals. The first and second microstrip lines are made substantially equal, and each of the terminals has a spring portion.

Connector for coaxial ribbon cable

A coaxial ribbon cable connector consisting of a cable-side connector (2) and a board-side connector (3). The cable-side connector includes an insulating case (4); a plurality of signal terminals (8) to which signal lines of a coaxial cable are to be connected; a plurality of ground terminals (9) to which drain lines of the cable are to be connected; and a plurality of shield terminals (10) disposed between the signal terminals. The board-side connector includes an insulating case (33); a plurality of signal terminals (43) arranged within the insulating case for contact with the signal terminals of the cable-side connector; a plurality of ground terminals (44) arranged within the insulating case for contact with the ground terminals of the cable-side connector; a plurality of shield terminals (45) arranged within the insulating case for contact with the shield terminals of the cable-side connector; and terminal legs of the signal and ground terminals being arranged in parallel to form a microstrip line.

A method for manufacturing an electrical contact pin having a compliant part to be fitted into a plated through hole of a diameter of no more than 0.93 mm (0.037'), which includes the steps of stamping a sheet of metal to form an elongated portion with a rectangular cross section in such a manner that the diagonal length of the elongated portion may be less than said diameter; shearing the elongated portion in its axial direction to form two elongated legs offset to a predetermined extent along a shear plane; pressing said offset elongated legs to flatten so that they return to a plane of the sheet metal and expand outwardly to form a thin slot with a pair of short shear ends left at its opposite ends; and coining the shear ends for fine adjustment of the width of the thin slot so that it may be resiliently fitted into the plated through hole.

Method of manufacturing electrical contact pins

An electrical contact pin has a compliant part to be fitted into a plated aperture having a diameter of no more than about 0.94 mm (0.037 inch). the compliant part consists of a pair of elongated legs coming together at opposite shear ends and having generally straight inside walls which are not offset with respect to each other along a shear plane and define a thin slot. The thin slot has a length and a width which are greater than the shear ends.

Electrical contact pin

An electric connector for coaxial ribbon cable comprises a guide block for positioning one end of a coaxial ribbon cable to be connected, a cable clamp coupled to the guide block for clamping the coaxial ribbon cable and a housing having the body of a ground contact disposed in the center thereof, and at least one signal contact disposed therein at either sides of the body of the ground contact. The ground contact is provided with any number of contacting sections. These contacting sections are located in the housing in the same line as the signal contacts are arranged. In connecting a coaxial ribbon cable to the electric connector, the top ends of the ground contact and the signal contacts can be connected to the outer conductors and the inner conductors respectively, of one end of the coaxial ribbon cable as positioned in the guide block.
