The present invention provides a method of producing sulfur-modified polyacrylonitrile, including: a step (1) of heating polyacrylonitrile and elemental sulfur in a rotating-type heating container including a discharge pipe and a sulfur vapor recovery unit while rotating the rotating-type heating container; a step (2) of liquefying a sulfur vapor by the sulfur vapor recovery unit while discharging hydrogen sulfide generated in the heating step; and a step (3) of returning the liquefied sulfur to a mixture of the sulfur and the polyacrylonitrile of the step (1).

Production method of sulfur-modified polyacrylonitrile

Disclosed is an electrode active material that has a large charge discharge capacity, a high initial efficiency, as well as excellent cycle characteristics and rate characteristics and is favorably used in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery. An organo sulfur-based electrode active material contains sodium and potassium in a total amount of 100 ppm by mass to 1000 ppm by mass; an electrode for use in a secondary battery, the electrode containing the organo sulfur-based electrode active material as an electrode active material; and a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery including the electrode. Preferably, the organo sulfur-based electrode active material further contains iron in an amount of 1 ppm by mass to 20 ppm by mass. Preferably, the organo sulfur-based electrode active material is sulfur-modified polyacrylonitrile, and the amount of sulfur in the organo sulfur-based electrode active material is 25 mass % to 60 mass %.

Disclosed is a sulfur-based electrode active material with which a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery that has a large capacity and exhibits less deterioration of the cycle characteristics can be obtained even when an electrode is employed in which the sulfur-based electrode active material is used as an electrode active material and an aluminum foil is used as a current collector. Also disclosed is a method for producing an organosulfur electrode active material, including a step of obtaining an organosulfur compound by heat-treating an organic compound and sulfur and a step of treating the organosulfur compound with a basic compound. The organosulfur compound is preferably sulfur-modified polyacrylonitrile, and the basic compound is preferably ammonia. The organosulfur compound may be treated with the basic compound after the organosulfur compound is ground, or may be ground in a medium that contains the basic compound.

Method for producing organo-sulfur electrode active material

A novel compound having satisfactory sensitivity (base generating performance), a photosensitive resin composition containing the compound as a photo-initiator, and a cured product of the composition are provided. Specifically, a compound represented by general formula (1) (compound (1)), a photosensitive resin composition containing (A) a photo-initiator including at least one compound (1) and (B) a photosensitive resin are provided. Preferred are the compound (1) in which Ris an unsubstituted or substituted C6-C20 aromatic hydrocarbon group, the compound (1) in which at least one of R, R, R, R, R, R, and Ris nitro, and the compound (1) in which n is 0.  The symbols in general formula (1) are as defined in the description.

Compound and photosensitive resin composition

A sealant for a one drop fill process is characterized by curing through two steps consisting of photocure using visible light from which 400 nm or shorter wavelengths are cut off and thermal cure and, when in contact with a liquid crystal composition, is less contaminating to the liquid crystal composition with a photo radical initiator, and exhibits high adhesive strength to a substrate. The sealant contains (1) a titanocene photo radical initiator, (2) a photocuring resin, (3) a latent epoxy curing agent and, if necessary, (4) a monomer having at least two glycidyl ether groups per molecule as a thermosetting resin.

Sealant for one-drop fill process

A sealant for a one drop fill process of the invention contains the following components (1), (2), (3), and (4): (1) a curing agent composed of a reaction product produced by reacting an acid compound and a polyamine containing, within its molecule, at least one active hydrogen and at least two nitrogen atoms; (2) a heat-curable resin; (3) an acylphosphine-based photoinitiator; and (4) a photo-curable resin. A heat-curable resin containing a bisphenol A propylene oxide-modified epoxy resin is preferably used as the heat-curable resin (2), and a photo-curable resin containing a bisphenol A acrylate-modified resin is preferably used as the photo-curable resin (4).

Compound and liquid crystal composition

Disclosed is a liquid crystal composition characterized by containing 15% by mass or more of a compound having a terminal structure represented by the general formula (I) below. This liquid crystal composition has high dielectric constant anisotropy (&#x3b5;) and low rotational viscosity (&#x3b3;1), and is thus suitably used as a liquid crystal composition for IPS liquid crystal displays or low voltage-driven TN liquid crystal displays.
